Re: World Mental Health Day - share your ideas for a post
I learnt about this at school today during my wellbeing session in form time. My idea would be to have a discussion about how mental health can be overlooked in men because it can sometimes feel like it can be unequal in terms of expectations and feelings for men and women.

Re: Am I making the wrong decision to come off meds? (TW: suicidal feelings)
Hello!
Thank you for reaching out to the Mix, and I'm sorry you're going through a difficult situation.
Everyone has different experiences with medication; some find it helpful, others not so much and that's okay! As suggested, have you contacted your GP? Have you spoken to a doctor? When making this decision, it's important to consult with a doctor.
I'm also aware of withdrawal symptoms so have a read about it here
Hope it helps!
How are you doing?

Hi @Kate_20,
Sorry to hear you are experiencing a difficult time with managing your medication and studies. Have you contacted your GP? They are in the best place to support you with managing your medication. However, I would be more than happy to help you with balancing your studies in the meantime. If this is something you would like me to support you with, please just let me know and we can work something out. In terms of suicidal thoughts, please remember you can contact Samaritans or Papyrus. I have listed their contact details below, I hope this helps. I care about you, I believe you and I think you are a kind member of our community. You are not alone

Re: Share your advice on how to manage peer pressure
The one bit of advice that comes to mind is to pick and choose your friends carefully, remember that there's always people out there who you'd have fun with and would want to spend time with you. Admittedly this is more of a pre-emptive tactic to avoid getting peer pressured in the first place but it's also good to remember if your friends are making you uncomfortable there's no reason to force yourself to stick around!
Re: How to delete your account
I cannot find how to contact @TheMix over PM. I would like to delete my account (option 2).
Re: What are you listening to right now?
Going On by Gnarls Barkley. Slightly obscure artist I only really remembered from the song 'Crazy' but turns out their other stuff is pretty bomb.

Also an absolute gem by The Black Keys - The Weight of Love. I love songs like this where you can just zone out and jam to the guitar sections that seem to go on forever.

Re: My daily struggles are boring now I am sick of myself (TW: suicidal feelings)
I hear what you mean in regards to feeling like everyone should produce value, however I reckon that nearly everyone does in their own way. Instead of thinking about value in terms of literal contribution to society, or how you can do well academically, we could think about tiny things that you might instinctively dismiss as being 'insignificant'. Like the fact that you talk to people on here, shows the 'value' that you bring to other people's day-to-day as we can find some peace in knowing that you are still here. To me this is extremely brave and valuable. Sometimes I reckon we place to much value upon the notion of 'tangible contribution to society' and this can make us feel worthless, when this certainly is not the case. It must be so frustrating on top of the pain you are in to have to worry about completing academic work for your deadlines I'm wondering if you would share what you're studying about atm to see if anyone on here could provide some insight and support? (Especially if the university won't provide you with additional help, despite your pain) x
Re: I feel like the crisis team would think it is my fault if I die
That's simply horrid, and in some ways I'm sure, leaves you feeling totally alone That's certainly not the role of a crisis team, but that doesn't mean they cannot end up making you feel worse, as has clearly happened. You deserve to be supported, no matter what the circumstances, and feeling blamed for your pain is truly ridiculous and wrong. Would you like to talk about how they made you feel like it's your fault?

Re: I feel like the crisis team would think it is my fault if I die
@Kate_20 That sounds really tough, especially if you feel unsupported by crisis teams.
Regarding your issue of lack of privacy in your room, I would like to suggest SHOUT which is a free mental health helpline that you can text 24/7 which would ensure your privacy and perhaps have faster replies than those of an email service. I will leave their details below in case that sounds of interest
