Okay, you can go to your GP and they will not tell your parents. Also, you can be assessed at a mental health place (your GP would refer you and make calls) and your parents don't have to know, nor do they have to tell your parents.

Hmm, I'm not sure about this.. I think they might tell your parents..

They wouldn't tell your parents if you're over 18. They haven't once contacted my parents, nor have the mental heath team.

You can contact MIND, Katie, and they have advocates that will come with you and help you feel comfortable, and they may even speak to the doctor/mh team for you with you there.

I have severe mental health. They don't contact my parents as they had no need to and I've told them not to. Of course they need one person to contact in case of emergencies, eg your next of kin. This doesn't have to be a family member, it could be a really good friend that understands what you're going throughout

Confidentiality is nor really based on severity. If you're over 18, I think they can only break it to other professionals. If you're under 18, and tell them specifically not to tell your mum then they shouldn't tell her.

Doc Ready is a really good tool if you find our hard to talk, on web or on app.

I also want to reassure you that you can tell us on the boards whatever you need to, within the guidelines.

    I agree with Mrs.

You don't know what anyone is going through, if they've experienced it, or if they're going through what you are currently.

No one can honestly help you unless you tell them what is going on.

Only you can accept the help to get better. You have the choice to change or stay like this.

And from reaching out here, I gather you want to change what's going on instead of it making you feel like this?

What can YOU do to change things?

    That's up to you.

But there's always someone going through something similar and finding it hard and feeling alone.

I know you want to change and et better and I know you want to get better as well.

What steps can you take to get better?

They won't lock you up and think you're mad.

They're there to support you and not judge you. They understand. They care.

If they didn't care they would not be in that sort of profession.
