Re: ⏱️Action required! Opt-in by 11:00am on the 26th to keep your boards account and data
Oh! I don't think it matters whether it's a capital or not.
To be safe, go with whatever the version is on your posts. That's the same version moderators see when we're trying to find you on our system. (But I don't think the capital matters!)

⏱️Action required! Opt-in by 11:00am on the 26th to keep your boards account and data
A previous version of this post was shared by @TheMix. That thread is now closed due to some incorrect and outdated information. I've added a link to this thread underneath the old one.

If you haven't heard the news yet, The Mix and Mental Health Innovations are merging.
What this means for your account
As part of the merger, we've been working behind the scenes to make sure your data stays safe and that we comply with all the right laws and policies in our new charity.
Currently, The Mix is the 'data controller' (a legal term) of your personal data you may have shared with us when registering your account or in posts from the discussion boards.
From 20 September 2024, MHI will be 'data controller' of all personal data that you agree to transfer. We need to request your consent to The Mix transferring your personal data that it holds in relation to you to MHI. That means you need to opt-in to a new policy indicating you're happy with the transfer.
If you opt-in, we know that you're happy for MHI to hold your account and your data. If you don't opt-in, that's completely fine - it's up to you whether you want to - but your account and data will be deleted.
What do I need to do?
You should recieve an email tomorrow. We'll update this thread when we've sent it to you.
In the email, there will be a link to a form. You'll need to read the new privacy policy and agree to it if you're happy with it. You must do this by 11:00am on the 26th to keep your account.
Alternatively, you can DO IT RIGHT NOW using this form.
We'll keep reminding you all over the next week to make sure you do this.
If you opt-in, you will keep your account and data.
If you don't opt-in, your posts will be anonymised and your account will be deleted.
--
If you have any questions, please put them below. And spread the word if you know other Mixers who might not be aware that this is happening - it would be a massive help.
--
EDIT: Deadline changed to 11:00am on the 26th rather than midnight on the 25th.
EDIT 2: The email asking you to opt-in has been sent out. If you don't see it, check your junk folder!

Re: Having a parent who hoards
hey @AnonymousToe I’m really sorry to hear you’re dealing with all of this right now. It sounds like such a tough situation with your sister and everything going on at home.
For your uni place, moving into a new environment can definitely take some readjusting with new rules and expectations (and dw that will be the case for everyone, although I understand why you feel more worried about that side of things). It’s totally normal for everyone to go through a bit of a trial-and-error phase as you all get used to each other’s habits and figure out what “acceptable” means for everyone. Have you met your housemates yet? Once you’re all settled, it might be helpful for you all to have a casual chat about how you’ll handle house things together. In my experience these things naturally come up when living with new people.
And I’m really sorry to hear about how things are with your sister. It must be so hard to be dealing with her behaviour on top of everything else. How are you holding up? Do you have anyone you can talk to about this, or maybe a friend who you trust?
As always we're here if you need to chat more or need any advice. You don’t have to go through this alone.

Re: 2 nites ago
if youve had trauma its common in people to be rude to others, dont worry.
Re: Will counselling / therapy be helpful for me for all of this ?
From experience, counselling is generally a more exploratory process, allowing you more to understand your emotions, situation and anything else that ailes your thoughts. There is a little less structure with a lot of the initiative on you to reflect on how you're feeling in the moment and what to target on working with with your counsellor. Future actions can then be taken when discussing them with your counsellor to support you in your needs.
CBT on the other hand has more structure to it as it can help target with managing your thought and behaviour problems, encouraging you to better deal and learn techniques to manage your specific issues. You can explore how you feel whilst also explore probable solutions help solve them.
Overall, there is a certain openness you need when approaching these services. I think your ability to assess your needs as you've explained now is a great step in helping you overcome how you're feeling right now and should be something to bring up on whichever route you choose. Agree with @sinead276, where it depends on the person. Factor in the fact that there may be a warming up period between you and the counsellor before they're able to properly understand and support you- these processes really does rely on your honesty and collaboration.
I'm sorry you feel that way with yourself. A simple reminder is to definitely not compare yourself to others. People have different lives and start from different places, all equally valid as each other. The biggest thing to remember is to be tune in what makes you happy and proud with yourself, and not tally your achievements to others. There are so many paths that people choose from themselves, and I think the way you have the intention to seek change, and observe what your needs are is a great first step in achieving this. Definitely don't lose hope, be kind and be patient with yourself.

Re: Will counselling / therapy be helpful for me for all of this ?
theres CBT and DBT which could help you. theres also normal counselling where you speak to a normal counsellor and work through your problems.
Re: struggling with urges.
i understand that. hopefully you dont have to go into A&E or hospital. you always have the mix to fall back on in case things get worse.
