Re: Does it sound like I'm getting more ahead ?
Hi @TheNightmare, thank you for sharing this with us.
Placements can be really helpful for future job opportunities - I did one for a whole year in research and managed to gain lots of skills that employers value, even ones that are not limited to the field of research, and like you said, it's a good way to experience the work environment for a bit.
I would just like to ask, would you consider doing any volunteer opportunities? I think places such as charities really appreciate people helping out, and like placements, it's another good way to develop skills and build connections. I think the application process to be a volunteer is usually easier compared to placements/internships/jobs, and you can also get a reference for future job applications from volunteering.
So sorry to hear that you got rejected for a placement - it's great that you're reflecting on that experience though, and like you said, more opportunities definitely will open up for you in the future. It sounds like you're developing resilience and determination and learning a lot from the rejection.
I hear you when you say that applying for jobs is such an overwhelming process - it's especially disheartening when you get lots of rejections. Take it one step at a time, and take lots of breaks.
I just want to say that you're making good progress because you're not giving up despite how difficult it's been. You will eventually get that job you want.
Good luck with everything, and keep us updated on how you're doing
Kai

I think it’s crazy that they’ve done that eylah, I’m so sorry 🫂 you’re being so strong
Re: samaritans 😭 cant take this anymore. safe
Im sorry they have done that, it's terrible they have done that, you should be able to contact them how many times you need to. We are all here for you no matter what though.
Re: Can’t sleep
Hi @Rose113 that sounds so awful, hopefully your head and tummy feel better now
I hope you're able to get a good sleep tonight and I'm glad to hear that Barney is there with you (even if he is snoring away

I'm so sorry to hear this @eylah having that safety net taken away must feel so unsettling. We're here for you.
Is it the whole calm service in general that isn't helpful? You're doing so well reaching out and trying these things regardless, of course some of them may suit you and your needs better than others. Take care of yourself these coming days, we're here to talk

Re: samaritans 😭 cant take this anymore. safe
Hey @eylah , thanks so much for your message. It sounds so overwhelming to have been blocked from Samaritans, and thank you for confirming that you are safe right now. I can hear you're very mad at yourself, and at the same time, you're doing your absolute best to cope and reach out for help. It sounds like such an exhausting cycle that you've been in - talking to people and then having to stop. What was it specifically about Samaritans compared to other helplines that you found helpful? We're here for you, Eylah

Re: does it ever get better?
Hey @eylah, just wanted to say it was me who accidentally replied from The Mix's account above on 18th October! I'm a new mod here, so finding my feet
It's great to meet you.
It feels really beautiful that watching sunrises or sunsets helps you feel connected to your mum again and I can hear your love for her so much. She sounds like such a wonderful person and I totally want to echo what Katie's said above about there being no 'right' or 'wrong' way to spread or keep her ashes and no rush to decide. It feels like a really emotional decision for you, and I hope you can take all the time you need
I'm really sorry to hear your dad made a comment about you being useless. I can imagine that hurt a lot, and I just want to counter that by saying that your worth is so much bigger than how 'useful' you are in one person's eyes, even if that person is your father. We're here for you.
