I have no power so I think i'm just going to be another joe nobody the rest of my life and die gracefully.
So the result would be militarisation of communities struggling against each other. From anarchy, order would ultimately be forged through violence, which defeats the whole purpose.
A common authority would be required, however restricted its powers and mandate for a socialistic society to work.
Why do you think so?
why do you think not?
Because people want identity, power and glory, and those desires will run rampant without any form of governance.
I mean..come on...people don't and won't live completely peacefully. Rogue intellectuals, gangs of young men seeking violence and glory, religious fundamentalists, foreign powers...the threat of violence/invasion needs to be countered by a common authority which can provide military force if necessary. That means some form of state.
there is no job stisfaction for the lads who have to remove piss and shit soaked carpets from some demented pld ladys house ...there are health risks with asbestos and all manner of other stuff but these lads turn up everyday and do the job ...cos they get more dosh than sitting in a call centre or or working in a shop ...more money than many tradesmen earn.
why else would people do these grim jobs ...cos they have been reducated to help out in their communities? of course not. they do it for fat pay packets.
everyone will want the cushy jobs.
the diffence in pay brings differnces in lifestyles and choices ...aims ideals ownership etc ...how would you deal with that?
Are there any serious intellectual works which back up the idea that a supposedly perfect society creates the perfect man? (Apart from Rousseau).
Dunno, but then I don't know anyone who claims that.

Isn't that surely the basis of your thinking here?
Improve man's environment and you, logically, improve his character...
Of course that's true, but only to an extent, unless you can guarantee a perfect upbringing by perfect parents as well.
If you follow the thread properly, you will see what my views are. I really can't be arsed to repeat myself for the benefit of a lazy hippy.
Ok. So you believe man will never be violent, greedy, power-hungry or ideologically motivated to change the world according to their own beliefs if environment is improved?
No I didn't say that either.
No, didn't say that.
ifsomeone suggests they are half baked ideas you slag them off or answer with a question.
and you can quote me where I said "man will never be violent, greedy, power-hungry or ideologically motivated". In fact, I have said pretty much the opposite.
No, didn't say that.
No I didn't say that either.
o
