How do you work it out? I got my marks back but am trying to work out what degree classification I averaged out at. I can't find anything on my uni website to help. I know it's first year so is pretty pointless but I'm just interested

40-50% = 3rd
50-60% = 2:2
60-70% = 2:1
70%+ = 1st
And as mimi said, take the average of all your overall module marks
The 3 modules that I took exams for are.
tha tale - 30 credits
romanticism- 45 credits
existentialism- 15 credits
So that is 90 credits in total but then I get stuck!
for my first module i got 67 (worth 30credits)
second i got 59 (worth 45credits)
thrid i got 54 (worth 15 credits)
so 90 credits = 100%
do i divide 67/90 and so on?
But at a rough educated guess i'd say it works out around 62%, 2:1
As the first module is worth twice as many credits as the third double it so it is 134. The 2nd is worth 3x as much so tripple it - 177. Add these to the last mark, 54 and you get 365. This is like having 6 15 credit modules so the average can be taken. Divide 365 by 6 to give you the final mark, 60.8.
thanks, did you use the final mark at the end?
67 + 67 + 55 + 57 + 57 + 57 + 58 + 60
divide by 8
= your final mark
thanks
buuut .75
Yeah same as. This first year doesn't count towards the final grade. I just wanted to see where abouts I was on the spectrum really.
Rach does your first year count to your overall degree grade? My first year counted, but only half as much as each of the other years. Too confusing to work out and so I never bothered!
