Or whatever you call them. So what kind of cheese do you british people use when making them?

 with a tasty mug of tomato soup.
it's usually a toastie in my experience.
Maybe it is a toastie. But then why call it 'grilled' cheese? Because you don't grill the cheese you.. squish it in a sandwich maker :sour:
It's got to be cheddar with a bit of cream cheese. Brie and spinach or stilton and spinach (or, even better, blue brie and spinach!) are also all good.
No they don't use sandwich makers - I've seen it where they literally make the sandwich and then shove it under the grill.
It is now where near as simple as that, ‘grilled cheese sandwiches’ in my experience in the US aren’t grilled at all, or even toasted, they are fried – and very good it is too.
Oh yeah, I've seen that too.
gotta love the americans
Exactly, if they can add extra fat to something then they will - tastes excellent though.
Also, I love to have either worcester sauce or good old brown HP on mine!!! mmmmmm.
also the comments re the half fat cheese!! I agree, it just doesn't fucking melt properly - ugh!
Isnt cheese virtually pure animal fat anyway? What is the other crap they put in to reduce the fat?
I would just suggest to people to eat normal cheese but lower your amount of it.. that's what I ended up doing..
Hmm, maybe some vegetarian version. My mum always likes to get half-fat cheese so on the shopping list I always write 'REAL cheese'.
one of those, then tomato sauce, chili sauce with garlic, scallions, pickles, oregano, pepper.
Low fat cheese has either water or plastic added I think :yuck:
I knew somebody would be able to make the humble cheese toastie sound like an exquisite delicacy! You've got my taste buds going there.
its really messy but idiot proof comfort food
that sound fab i think i might try that
result!:thumb:
I have to go easy on the spring onions though..
