I find 'lad mags' cheap and tacky, but I dont really see the point in moving them to the top shelf, hell, there is as much flesh on show in most of the womens mags.

It's been suggested before. It's bullshit to be honest. Unless you're planning on moving that crap like Heat to the top shelf too, which in my opinion does a lot more to degrade women than the likes of FHM.

Lads explicit magazine in this country are crap, all you see is naked woman, not proper porn, you don't see much more than you can see on some advertisement in the street or on TV... Really don't see what's the big deal is...

Go in France and in every newsagent look at the top shelves and see what is a proprer lads explicit magazine...

    This is just stupid...

    Heat is absolutely awful.

Every single week on the cover it either says "omg look how fat/skinny these girls are".

Whenever I glance through that magazine (as my flat mates always buy it and for some lame reason, I read them when she leaves them around) I end up feeling bad about myself.

lads mag have the worst pieces of journalism ever, if they are degrading then surely female magazines should be banned for pressuring young women to be 'beautiful', they are both aweful!

Lads mags? Here we go again! ;)

Children see obscene images everyday. What real use is this gonna do?

I'd sooner put the likes of the S*n and the Star in the top shelf. I know which publication is more likely to corrupt and put wrongness in the minds of little ones.

Come to think of it, add the Daily HateMail, the Express and the Mirror to the top shelf.

I'd happily see both men's and women's magazines put on a compost heap instead of the top shelf

    :thumb:

    I wholeheartedly agree.

One glance at the cover of these magazines; the people and stories they feature and I can literally feel my brain cells committing suicide. That's the only real problem I have with Nuts, Zoo etc along with the multitudes of women's magazines that are utterly mind-numbing -- they're all absolutely inexcusably crap.

I would agree with the point bongbudda and others have raised, too. I don't think these lad mags do actually objectify women anymore than the likes of Cosmo and More magazine objectify both women and men [I'd go as far as to say magazines targeted at women are more worrying generally in terms of the messages they send out and ideals they promote] ..albeit in a slightly different way.

    Way, way more...

I happend to have read a few and I am not surprise women have so many issues...

What do wear if you have a fat ass, don't wear this cos you will look fat...

    You don't eat properly...

    You have to wear make-up...

How to hide that flaw, and that one and that one...

    Fucking magazines...

Well, scavenging on people's insecurities ["top ten reasons why men cheat"] breeds consumerism ["Sure fire ways (aka buying x, y and z) to stop your man from straying!"].

you dont see porn mags as much these days, its dissapointing, i used to love picking up a copy of razzle or something after school from the corner shop, now you mainly just see them at petrol stations.

i know porn is available on the net for free etc.. but there is something satisfying about sitting there with a porn magazine.

as for heat/loaded etc... deffo shouldnt be top shelf material, its not like theres anything that explicit on show, you can seen tits on the beach or in the newspaper, why not in a trashy magazine.

It is not porn, it is erotic...

Porn contain close up pictures of penetration and others...

Erotic show naked woman, but not from to close and there is no penetration or other things of the same style...

It isnt even erotic. There is no porn in lads mags, all you get is an occasion shot of boobs. Mostly they are just amusing harmless fun with some amusing stories, jokes, articles, pictures, adverts for gadgets. It is all very good and i like lads mags like FHM, Loaded, etc. The womens mags are just as bad but from a ladies perspective and they shouldnt be top shelf material at all.

Neither should newspapers. Proper porn mages with full on frontal and rear nudity and sex scenes on show are what should be on the top shelf and thats all.

well tbh i find womens magazines more degrading than mens. In a mans its usually some bird with her tits/ass whatever out. Usually nothing more to it. But it womens mags they pick at every flaw and have articles about what you should/shouldn't wear if you're x, y, z size. Then go on about how to get a certain celebrities skin, hair, body ect. It's balls because they can afford personal trainers/chefs/nutritionist/stylists ect and can usually afford the time too. They make you feel fat/ugly no matter what size you are.
And the women on lads mags covers never really come across as good looking anyway.

female anerexia (spelling?) is much much higher than male! and i do believe its down the pushng of products through adverts and magazines thaa you need all these things to look 'beautiful' and if you done ur ugly, society's pressure is mainly cultivated by forms of the media and advertising!

and personally a little aside, i read one with a survey of how males should and shouldn't look, gingers, long hair and beards were a big no no! well if true im screwed, or not as the case may be!

You ever noticed that both degrade women, yet none degrade men? Women look at their own magazines and they tell them how "you should look". They look at mens magazines and see "what men find attractive". I really do feel sorry for you. But isn't it men in their early 20's who have the highest rate of suicide? What d'you reckon the reason for that is?

The question is, though, are these magazines creating these insecurities, or just reflecting them and shamelessly jumping on them to sell magazines. If the magazines/outside media influences didn't exist, would everyone then be happy with how they look?
