Every 'rock music lover' that I know has been nice to me, and I'd now define myself as a rock music lover. I don't dress like goths at all, but I would if I wanted to. I don't dress like anyone else I know, as a matter of fact, and I am quite proud of that myself.

As for the topic, MaLkAv if you actually do look like a pirate the others have a point <IMG alt="image" SRC="http://www.thesite.org/ubb/smile.gif"> though I suspect it was an exaggeration. And I suspect a lot of girls would be disturbed by you listening to MM or similar, so you have to accept that it will reduce the number of available ppl unless you do tone those interests down a bit around girls.
Daze, if you've gone invisible then I agree with most of what you said. I wouldn't enforce my opinions so forcefully, but what you said is pretty much true.
Malkav, I think you've answered your own question - like Spirit said, I don't know a girl who would be willing to be seen with a guy wearing 18th C pirates constumes.
Rachel, there is a difference between a rock music lover and a goth. I'm a rock music lover - I listen to punk stuff (Greenday, Blink, Foo Fighters), indie rock (RHCP, Oasis, Coldplay, Travis), and stuff like Muse, JJ72, Killing Heidi (dunno what categories they fall in to). That's rock. Goth music is the stuff that Daze mentioned - Manson, Cradle of Filth, Canible Corpse et al. Music wise, they're maybe not too far apart, but content wise, the stuff I listen to is about normal song things - relationships, hurt, alcohol n crap. Goth stuff is about fuck knows - I don't listen to it, and Daze has already listened to it.
Saying that all druggie skaters are shit is a wonderful sweeping generalisation. So many of my best friends are druggie skaters. I'm not one, but I still spend a hell of a lot of time hanging around with them. On the other hand, I know quite a few rockers that are really nice as well. But both groups have those that give them bad names.
I'm not saying any of you are wrong, but I think this bickering is quite funny. And maybe next time you all might want to be able to back-up your arguments, as Daze has so wonderfully done.

ok maybe i was out of line a bit with the comments - but he attacked my and my friends whole way of life - so i'm not apologising until he does
and as for the way i dress and the way i act the type of girls i'm after all think it's brilliant - and it's not quite a pirate as such it just looks a bit similar and a few people have pointed it out and taken the piss a bit. and i only wear it when i go out - which is to a club that is a goth hangout so nobody really cares too much about what i'm wearing.
and no i actually have a very very long fuse with my temper (thank god) but I am veryloyal and protective of my friends, nbecause without them i wouldn't be here and would have probably killed myself ages ago, me and my family don't get on very well at all. the friends that i have, to me they are my family. and anyone who attacks my friends in any way gets a very angry response from me. because my friends are all that keeps me going most days.

And even if you were in a normal club, if i was steamin and i saw you in something that looked like something out of a pantomime i would probably come over to you and rip fuck out of you, not cos im nasty but cos id be pissed and id think it was funny how you looked.
