Hey everyone,

Here's the Post of the Month nominations for February. You can vote on your winner below :)

1. @Millie2787's reply in 'Victim to Survivor

Hey Natalie,

Well done for writing this , I know how raw this is probably for you at the moment.
I can’t imagine how hard the court case must have been for you but it’s positive to here that’s he’s been charged and found guilty!

Have you had any counselling maybe from a sexual abuse charity or a centre in your area ? , sometimes the police know of specific places  or have specially trained officers who do it ?

http://thesurvivorstrust.org/find-support/. Take a look here there’s a list of all the Sexual abuse and rape centres across the uk that are ran in partnership with the survivors trust. The list is broken down into the areas of the uk ( East Midlands etc ) and underneath it gives each county that’s in that bit to help you find the right one. It lists all the centres in the area with the area that the centre covers if that makes sense ?

Do you still have a specialist officer you can get in contact with that helped you through your case?.
Not sure if that’s even a thing I’m just trying to think as my mum is going through the process of reporting historic sexual abuse and she has a officer  in a team that’s spefic to deal with sexual abuse cases that she can ring or text if she needs any advice ?

I know the mix do telephone and web chat Counseling and they always pop a post in Anything goes to let us know when the waiting list are back open for them ( there not usually that long ) or there’s the 1-2-1 web chat what’s open most days I think .

for now whilst it’s so raw and your dealing with it, it may be best to not tell you little girl but that’s entirely your own decision. It might be in the future that you do tell her or it might be you don’t. You do what’s best for you and your little girl 💖

Stay strong you are doing amazing ❤️

2. @Shaunie 's reply in 'relapse/anxiety'

Heyy,

you have been doing so well and I know it can feel like "relaspe" but i do hate that word because it makes it sound like you have restarted. Tho relapse is part of recovery. All heard the saying of "bump in the road" (i dont want to miminise what youre saying - it can feel more like a bump but the content will help me with am saying) ....what i mean is that while youre on a road trip and hit an obstacle/"bump in the road" - you dont start your road trip right from the beginining again. All the things in the past are still there and you have still came very far and ways you have coped before and what you have learnt are still also with you.

I think youre doing as well as you can and challenging your thoughts as well as you can & i think being able to see this helps a lil. & also just the fact youre focusing on where you feel youre not doing so well - shows lot of determination in itself of wanting change. Which i have personally found the most important thing in ED recovery

And is also great youre realising this & seeking help from here.
Have you got anyone else you could tell t try to find more support?gp ect?

3. @Jellyelephant 's reply in 'Really fed up and suicidal. MAY TRIGGER'

Just seen your post and didn't want to leave without saying anything. I just am so proud of you, for posting this and for fighting every day against your past. I know how hard it is for you to share this, as you have struggled to even say parts of it in chat. I hope it has helped you to get it all down on paper (well screen lol). I really hope that you give rape crisis a chance to help you, I found them to be really kind and supportive when I had a counsellor from there. I understand it is so ridiculously hard to open up about abuse... as I struggle to say my traumas in any detail.... so you have been really brave. I just want to add as well, cos I know you have often said in chat that you are disgusting, but from reading that I didn't once think that about you; I felt really sad for you, and angry at him for hurting you like that. It should never have happened, and you are not to blame (although I know it can be hard to believe this). You were a VICTIM in this but today you are a SURVIVOR. You are stronger than you realise, and I am privileged to know you

lots of love and hugs,
Jelly x

4. @Past User 's reply in 'Samaritan s'

Heyyy buddy,

I think it's great that you're thinking of phoning them. Don't worry too much about how you start the conversation. But I totally get wanting to know what to say.

When they answer, they say something along the lines of, "this is Samaritans, how can we help?" Perhaps you can just reply with something like, "Hi, I'm just going through a really tough time, and I need to talk". Then you can start talking about the stuff bothering you - perhaps you could provide any backstory first (e.g., if you've been suffering with hopelessness and losing your job recently has been the last straw for you, you could say "I've been battling feelings of hopelessness for a while now, and it's been really hard. Then recently, I was fired from my job. And that's been the last straw for me. It's made me start to feel suicidal, and I don't know how to cope").

Those are just some tips though, you can talk however you like. It's a safe space to talk, you may feel unsure of what to say and scared at first, but it'll get easier in no time so again, don't be concerned.

I hope it goes well if you do phone them:)
