Live on the news...the World Trade Center towers have been hit by two twin engine aircraft...one caught live on TV while the first was burning.

This attack was well co-ordinated in a very intelligent way. Because of this I doubt anyone would be stupid enough to own up to it. Anyone who did would face severe revenge attacks without trial by the US military, which they so rightly deserve.
But I cant help thinking Diesel, after all your talk about the IRA and their "cause" dont you sometimes wish you weren't so ready to hop into bed with terrorists, especially now that your own country has become a target??? I think maybe you should think before you condone such actions again. But then of course, these "freedom fighters" as you would put it probably had a very good reason for attacking the USA. 50,000 people worked in those two buildings.

US border with Mexico and Canada has been closed.

All air and most surface transportation is either shut down or in the processs.

All military reserves have been called up.

US Government in Patterson, NJ, also hit with bomb.

This is the first aniversary date of the 'Camp David Accords' and there may be a connection.

FAA has tape from pilot of one of the terrorist just before he crashed his plane.

Too bad they didn't hit the UN building while they were at it.

None of this surprises me, with israel for friends we, US, can have the rest of the world for enemeys.

We in US have faced many acts of terrorism over the years, some external, most internal...this it truly worse than Pearl Harbor and US is going on war footing.

To our english cousing, thank you for the compassion shown...don't be too shocked by the responce which will probably go neuclear.

In Seattle we have passenger plane coming from Japan which has no fuel to go elsewhere...I expect they will get a fighter escort past the city ot outlaying airfield.

This is indeed WAR...our 'allies' in occupied palestine will be sucking hind tit over this one!

Ok. we know what has happened it is horrible. If you saw the 6:00 news you may of saw that Israilie people (forget the spelling) were laughing and celebrating in the streets over the news. I thing this is horrible and sick attitude. I dont see how they could celebrate the deaths of thousands of people (the 50,000 working at the 2 towers and the 90,000 visiters i think). My thoughts go to those who have lost friends and family in this devestation.

BTW: Dont forget that there is coverage from all of the news channels and you may of noticed that the beeb have cancelled most programs this evening and switching to News 24

I don't believe that revenge is the answer. Whenever you get revenge you get innocent people hurt. We don't need more innocent people having their lives destroyed. All I can say is my condolences to everyone involved, I pray they're now safe in heaven. Lets hope there are not more people about to be hurt.

I personally don't condone terrorism for any purpose or goal. That includes the IRA tactics of civilian targets. I'm half Irish by the way. When an individual enters the military, they do so with the knowledge that they my forfiet their life in performance of their duty. If someone attacks a military target, so be it. With the exception of the individuals in the Pentagon, all the victims are civilian. This is the most extreme act of cowardice.
I don't believe in flattening a whole country for revenge, but I do believe in shift violent action against those responsible. If some inocents get hurt, it was their own people that brought it about. We have to send a message to the world that the US will not tolerate this. Britain has had it's share of suffering from terrorist and I know as a whole they will support us in whatever is done. It's time we put our foot down on all terrorist groups worldwide and those countries that give them asylum. No other single terrorist act in history has produced this kind of devastation. What some of you have to understand is, this is ongoing. The anger is fresh and some post here from my fellow Americans will express that extreme anger. For those of you British that extent your symathy. Thank you.

I'm not going to get into the debate about whether it's right to retaliate with military force but it is important to think about the repurcussions. As yet no group as officialy owned up to these attacks, this makes me wonder if more are planned. It also makes it extremely difficult for old trigger happy dubbya to respond without harming innocent people. (I don't care if people are celebrating, whilst that absoloutly disgusts me it does not justify killing them).

More worryingly for me is Tony Blair's decision to stand "shoulder to shoulder" with American. Obviously the attacks were despicable but there's a difference between condemnation and aggrevation, I don't want Britain to also be a target. I can fully forsee Dubbya having a knee-jerk reaction and triggering a worse catastrpohe than that which we've seen today, frankly that scares the s*** outta me.

My aunt is good friends with supermodel Heidi Klum, they actually have a picture of them infront of the world trade center with it flaming in the background.

I'd imagine that thats a peice of history right there...

Someone made a good point...the IRA never did anything like this to england...they could have but didn't.

Right now US is heading towards martial law...I expect it to be announced by this time tomorrow...ALL military has been recalled and put on stand by...included retired, reserves, National Guard, etc.

Driving around Seattle the last hour I did not see even one police car, patrol, etc. Banks are closing, there is already a run on grocery stores...it really looks like the shit has hit the fan!

This will not get better for anyone...and if some of those missing USSR pocket nukes turn up...it will go live worldwide.

It will be interesting to see what happens with troops deployed in Bosnia and the Balkans in general...!

US military went to Code RED about two hours ago...that is a dangerous state of affairs.

Like Blair said, terrorism is the world's number one evil. If we could stamp out terrorism we could, and at the moment GFM the only solution for the USA is to hit back at the countries hiding the suspected terrorists, those with the most to gain:Iraq, Afghanistan and Palestine. I don't condone a full retalitory strike, but what can be done? Someone has to teach the scum a lesson, but how do we do it? Unless we systematically nuke evey country in the East until the attacks stop I cant see much happening, even with the tightest security. As for the crazy figure of 100,000 people dead, that is a hyped up exxageration. Thousands of people are dead, but as there were only 20,000 in the 2 buildings, plus 266 on the planes that crashed I find it hard to believe your figure.

As for Diesel, I'm not trying to score points of him, especially during an event like this, something I could never wish on anybody, all I want is for him to see the hypocrisy of his writing when he supports what the IRA are doing.

Personally i think this should be the spark for the West to knock a few heads together ,Palestinian and Israeli ,and MAKE them agree a settlement over Palestine . Im assuming this is related to that problem.
An armed response by the US would be absolutely disasterous ,targetting terrorist leaders in refugee camps in the middle east would lead to more massive civilian deaths and more people prepared to carry out more outrages like this.
There has to be an equitable peaceful solution to the Palestinian problem or it could drag the whole world into war.
