Do you ever struggle with low self-esteem?
Self-esteem refers to how we value and perceive ourselves. It's based on our opinions and beliefs about ourselves, which can feel difficult to change. We might also think of this as self-confidence.
Self-esteem will be our topic for this Thursday's topic-specific chat. Join us if you fancy talking it through.

Re: 19M looking for friends
@JMMV2005 hi
I really understand how you’re feeling and I want to start to by saying I’m so sorry you feel like this because it’s awful, but I would love to be your friend!! Secondly, even if it may not feel like it now, I can promise, from my own experience, it will get better. I used to struggle with not having many real friends and feeling like the friends I did have didn’t really like me or understand me and it took me a while to realise that it wasnt actually my fault because these people weren’t the right people for me.
Ive learnt over time that even if it seems impossible at first, there is a group of people out there who will love you for who you are and make you feel excepted and happy beyond what you can imagine, even if it takes time!! You deserve good people in your life who make you happy and I would love to help<3

Hugs @eylah
I also want to ask if there's anything you might be able to take with you that could help with grounding and regulating your emotions? This could be some earphones for music, a cuddly toy or even a fidget toy. These might be able to help distract you whilst you're waiting or even during your appointments.
I'm keeping you in my thoughts today Eylah

Re: Does it sound like I'm getting more ahead ?
Hi @TheNightmare, thank you for sharing this with us.
Placements can be really helpful for future job opportunities - I did one for a whole year in research and managed to gain lots of skills that employers value, even ones that are not limited to the field of research, and like you said, it's a good way to experience the work environment for a bit.
I would just like to ask, would you consider doing any volunteer opportunities? I think places such as charities really appreciate people helping out, and like placements, it's another good way to develop skills and build connections. I think the application process to be a volunteer is usually easier compared to placements/internships/jobs, and you can also get a reference for future job applications from volunteering.
So sorry to hear that you got rejected for a placement - it's great that you're reflecting on that experience though, and like you said, more opportunities definitely will open up for you in the future. It sounds like you're developing resilience and determination and learning a lot from the rejection.
I hear you when you say that applying for jobs is such an overwhelming process - it's especially disheartening when you get lots of rejections. Take it one step at a time, and take lots of breaks.
I just want to say that you're making good progress because you're not giving up despite how difficult it's been. You will eventually get that job you want.
Good luck with everything, and keep us updated on how you're doing
Kai
