Im a failure, ask me anything
I had interviews for Tesco, Argos, World Duty Free, Zara, TK Maxx, M&S, and Legoland. I had Tesco again in the weekend and got the outcome today that Im declined. Im getting declined and my applications rejected and ignored all the time. Im 24 and have no job.
making friends at college
so im a first year at college and i had my first proper day yesterday (last week was my induction) and its honestly so hard to make friends. like i try to make conversation with people but it goes nowhere. i wanna make friends with this one girl but today when we had a group project to complete she wasn't in my group so i couldn't talk to her. i mean i did talk to her in the morning a bit but it wasn't enough to form a friendship if that makes sense. i mean friendships just form overtime so i understand why this is not an instant process. but i dont even know where she hangs out during our breaks so i can't talk to her at that time. the thing is i was gonna join lunch club to try and make some friends but because of my changed timetable i can't join. i now have college on a tuesday, wednesday and thursday and on a tuesday and thursday i finish early so that's why. and on a wednesday i have class from 2:30pm to 4:45pm with a 15 minute break in between and lunch club starts at 12:45pm and lasts for like one hour (i think, it might be until like 2ish but i have no clue). plus the enrichment activities aren't really enrichment activities, a lot of them are just online. maybe the ones i selected are meant to be online but i was expecting them to be in-person. and i wanted to join the student representatives which is basically student council but that wasnt an option when i completed the form. therefore there's really no way to make friends unless if i talk to people in my class. this just sucks.

@Cutelivejazz take care jazz, sleep well. I'm just sorry nobody else outside of the mix is listening to you and giving you the support you deserve for it. As you mentioned when you go to uni eventually though, you'll be able to get support from them privately, with counselling services provided on site, and some uni's even have there own gp you can sign up for. They could help you a lot when you eventually go. Btw, ADHD isn't just about showing your hyperactive, but it can be a case of struggling to be able to sit down on focus on things and mentally being hyperactive.

youre not a failure. the job market is just so bad right now that you cant get a job. i bet so many people are in the same position as you and some of them may even be older than you so youre not alone.

@Redemption No you aren't. Things that are out of your control have made it extremely difficult for you. The poor job market, poor state of the economy, economic mismanagement from goverment, have all made it so that people are applying for hundreds of jobs, and not getting anywhere with them. As i said, 20 years ago, you would have been in a job, on the job market, working your way up. It's not your failure, it's the polticians failure. For example, 52% of year 2 medical doctors are unemployed (https://www.bma.org.uk/news-and-opinion/major-survey-shows-scale-of-doctor-unemployment-crisis). We have fully trained doctors, working Uber on minimum wage currently. It's a horrific job market. You are trying, you aren't giving up when so many others will have, your trying at every point you can, so no. You aren't a failure. You got failed, never had the oportunities that past generations had, and none of it is your fault. The things you can control, like not giving up, trying for interviews, still pushing through it all, and being geniunely willing to work hard and go on upskilling training courses to build your cv - all these things you can control, you are excelling at.
So no, you are not a failure bro.
Yh i understand all that @DonnerKebab im sorry you have to keep repeating yourself to me , millions of time's. It's just all a new in my brain as I just got rejected today its all roar in my brain, there's not support sessions on tomorrow, I normally use black dog but they aren't open tomorrow either. Talking here helps though so thank you so much bro
@Redemption for what it's worth, do you want to be on boards at like 8pm tomorrow when sessions usually are, and have a chit chat then? i'll be on at that time bro. You don't have to be alone tomorrow. Obviously getting rejected is going to hurt, and it's going to be a struggle for the first few days, and that's okay. I'm always happy to remind you of these things when you need it. You have nothing to be sorry about. Hearing it is one thing, but drilling it into yourself is another thing altogether. Just don't give up bro. Your breakthrough will come eventually.

I reached out to a few recruiters, i applied for a level 7 apprenticeship in AI, and i did get told they would be in touch to arrange an interview, but today i got an email saying they were having an issue accessing applications out of the blue, so they need to get that sorted, and then they'll go forward with the interview date. I'm trying, but that's all I can do. Hopefully that all goes well. And i just want to say, you are an absolute warrior, to still be trying after all of this. Not giving in. So many others are, but your still doing your best, and that's all that can be done. So you should be proud of yourself. We're all here for you bro, to give you whatever support we can.

@Redemption yeah. i've not be able to talk about some major issues i've had, but for the mods there to have seen how much i was hurting from it all, the feeling of isolation i've had, them telling me their proud of me for giving others support and that they are here for me, and writing such a lovely message, it just struck a nerve, and made me really emotional. That's probably the happiest i've been for a long time, so i really can't say thank you enough to the mods in that chat.
And yeah, it will be uphill from here for both of us. Obviously they'll be bumps along the way, and there might be times we stumble, but we'll both make it bro. So long as we don't give up and keep trying.
@DonnerKebab the mods are amazing, they're incredible, they and the whole community gets me emotional regularly, similar here, saying theyre proud of me and everything, recognising my progress. Im really glad you're happy, the community makes me really happy too.
