I have to say that I'm not too impressed by mrsrb921. Given that she is older and more experienced than most of the people here (and has stated that she thinks herself more intelligent that at least one person here), especially the ones being a bit too abusive like Harry, couldn't she have risen above them to properly discuss what she thought without stooping to abuse? She should also have realised pretty quickly that there was noone who both wanted a real discussion and who was also being rude to her. Okay fair enough if she finds it difficult due to her own situation, but mrsrb and clueless brought emotion, aggression etc. to the 'sensible' discussion, not anyone else.
I really really hope Rachel isn't too upset by the abuse hurled at her here, mrsrb this is where you truly lose the plot. The whole point of this meeting place is that it is truly anonymous, so people can discuss what happened / is happening to them without shame or fear. If Rachel really were in such denial and desperate straits that she was inventing rape to satisfy some pyschological inability to accept her situation even here, then it would seem she is also inventing everything else about herself: that she is moving forward with her life and making progress. Why lie about everything like that, it wouldn't and doesn't make sense. If she was lying, and was inventing the rape, then surely she would be seeking more self approval and validation for herself. In general she is not, offering support to others. Hence she is able to give to others more than she takes in support and validation => she is not particularly insecure or in denial (no more than mrsrb, and most of us) => she has no big need to lie about her current life => she is not lying about the rape. Plus, it IS difficult for a rape victim to think about it and issues around it, so it makes sense for her not to mention it until it helped other people to understand her point of view.
Obviously the above argument is not exactly 100% logical and a little tenuous in places, but emotion and thought processes are not logical, and a better argument would take a much longer post. mrsrb, you should think about what you may have just done to someone who has lived through a horrendous experience.
When i first replied to this post i thought maybe it would be a good discussion and maybe we would learn something from it, but unfortunately as we can all see, it turned a bit sour,
i think the constant jibes at each other and name calling is totally unecessary and it seems stupid to me that people feel the need they have to resort to this,
i have read so many replies that start off making and point and it is said very well, then out of no where the slagging off comes in,
i think maybe ppl should calm down a little bit when they are replying to posts like this, make sure you read the post properly and dont just rush into making a reply and end up making a fool or yourself,
one thing i have noticed is ppls inability to accept they are wrong or accept that someone has had the better of them,
afer this i hope ppl will realise there is no need for all the abuse and biasness (not sure if that words right??) about which country ppl come from,
who cares what country anyone comes from, i certainly dont.
I cant even remember what the point of all this is about but one thing i know for sure is ,
name calling is unecessary,
if someone has had the better out of you dont need to reply back by having a go and pointing out there faults, just forget about it,
we all have different views and opinions and while we all want to get our opinions across we do need to think about what someone is saying and try our best to see it from thier view point,
we need to respect each other even tho we might not want to, because look what happens when you dont, you end up with a thread that is just full or meaningless digs at one another.
