Bring back the 60's and 70's I say!!!
Also, anyone who thinks that nature doesn't feel is just uneducated.

Morrocan roll, mate i can see you in the centre of london with the board saying "the end is nigh"....
Why are you so negative and defeatist?
It's stupid to think that Earth can or could last forever...it's a resource after all and resources run out.
There is no point in talking about what we've done in the past to speed up the process.
The question is what to do now....

And if you really care so much about Earth, go out and buy a tree and plant it....
    Or do something else....

Croci, I'll rephrase....all humans have a deviant streak in them, and it seems that more often than not it's easily activated. We have a tendency to destroy each other. For our own benefit and not for survival. But for domination.

It's not all doom and gloom, looks like summer's gonna be hot, the World Cup is near, the beer gardens are waiting, birds are singing, etc...
Viva la vie.... (is that right NMM?) ;)

Buy a tree? I'd say that defeats the point, doesn't it? ;)

We shouldn't be buying trees and expensive exotic plants to keep up with the ostentatious Joneses... I'm waaay off topic here but it's all related back to nature, I guess. It just pisses me off when people go buying crazily dyed flowers and plants that have been shipped from the other side of the world (incidentally causing yet more problems). We should be appreciating the indigenous, there's a lot in nature to be grateful for but it won't be around too long if it's ignored for other, more impressive things. Let the wind decide which plants root where, it's the way nature intended it - the reason we have bees, and that other plants self-pollenate or rely on the wind blowing. At least that's my take on it.

The birds are indeed singing, what a lovely day. If only I'd done my work earlier...I could be out enjoying it. :grump:

the thread was titled doom and gloom for a purpose.
i happen to believe man is incredible ...and will therefore sort it all out to one degree or another ...but only when we face up to things and stop trying to avoid the mass of problems we are facing.
plant a tree ...in the last 10 years i have planted loads.
i'm even working on generating my own electricity from hydro ...with only a little sucsess at the mo but getting there. i grow a lot of food.
i'm a very cheerful optimist by the way.

we need more. sometimes i despair, growing up in a suburb / village - what happens if everything goes to pot, the food stops coming, the police stop worknig, society crumbles. you'll be alright in your welsh mountains with your shotguns and your food and your electricity. me? ill be ripped apart and eaten!

perhaps im too dramatic. im in a panicy mood today. too much coursework and not enough time makes rich a stressout ready to murder something boy.

What we need is the world to work as one team instead of fighting each other, what we need is a global revolution where people of all countries join to fight against governments and industries that only care about money and power... one preson here and there doing its bit is useless... we need a worldwide effort... what we need is a miracle...

Yeah, it is both. The UK is getting colder winters and hotter summers.

    Right up shit creek!
