God, I saw that. What the hell are they doing being a political party - surely theyve only got one policy.

These three pledges are the ones that caught my attention:

"Blocking British overseas aid to any agency or government which promotes abortion, euthanasia or sterilisation programmes, coercive contraception or other violations of human rights (e.g. arbitrary imprisonment or deportation, slavery, or sale of women or children)

Diverting British overseas aid to pro-life agencies and programmes

Ensuring effective curbs on violence and pornography in the media"

They're bitching that the BBC censored their party political broadcast. Which featured footage of an abortion.

I know. Apparently they got enough votes in the last General Election to be considered a serious political party. Which is worrying.

From what results I can find, they performed as well as the UKIP in the last General Election. Which was in the low hundreds in most places. That's still a worrying amount of votes for a party with that kind of manifesto.

They were called the Prolife Alliance in 2001.

I know, just look at Scottish wind watch or Save our hills or whatever they're called. Standing for the European elections! Why? Surely the local councils/Scottish parliament would be more appropriate to them.

Bearing in mind the alternatives to wind farms, I doubt they'll get many votes.

I'm just not pleased with the results for Stoke On Trent where oddly enough Labour have gained 8 more council seats.

My council is now run by them too! arghhh

I saw that result, Lukesh and thought of your joy ;)

I voted Labour, thing they have done a lot of good that people don't see. I read all the manifestos that we got through the door and decided the other parties didn't really have much to say, all they did was slag labour off about what they haven't done and seemed to base a lot of the arguements on the war.

I haven't much respect for Respect to be honest, but I did want to register a significant anti war protest.

european i voted green as the european parliament has influence over trade health and safety and environment and well labour and conservatives would sell us out to america with GM foods etc and UKIP and BNP well theyd never get my vote

Why is that good? Doesn't that mean that Ken will effectively not be able to do anything during the next 4 years after what was arguably a great first term.

    UKIP 2 (+2)

Its not quite a majority is it? Ken could work if some sort of Lib/Lab pact was brought in to play.

And why do UKIP have London assembly seats, what the hell has standing in London got to do with coming out of Europe. Im sure they will be very useful on the assembly of one of the most diverse cities in the world

As much as I would like to, Bush can't be blamed for this. Bill Clinton pushed through the blocking of aid to countries offering abortions. Any programs which even suggest abortions to pregnant women have their funding cut.

it wasnt an argument, it was a question.
i know lukesh supports conservative, and I must admit i prefer that he is political even if its for a party i disagree with. better than being apathetic about everything. I was just asking why he supports conservative, what is it about them that he loves, bearing in mind he doesnt remember living under a tory government. Is it to do with being `against` the current government, so therefore supporting the opposition, or is it something in particular about the conservatives.
Ive always voted labour because of my left wing leanings, although i dont think labour are that left wing anymore, for the local elections I voted them, because i didnt want to vote for the other two options. European I voted green because I want to support the party that cares the most about the environment. Its a subject I care strongly about and try and be as environmentally friendly in real life as possible. If I hadnt voted for them I would have voted respect, but I didnt see all their policies as viable, not that Im a politician of course, but some of their policies were a little extreme even for me.
Im justg asking you Lukesh to perhaps elaborate on why you have the political leanings that you do. Im genuinely interested, but sometimes you make kneejerk statements which just sound prejudiced, and lack empathy or any kindness for people worse off than you. I find that hard to comprehend.

so its as opposition to labour rather than anything good about the conservatives?
Thats fair enough. Thats why Labour got in in the first place. people were so completely fed up with the conservative government, there was a huge backlash and people all voted labour. Now New Labour have turned out to be more right wing than the conservatives in a lot of respects, and people feel disillusioned and betrayed.
The conservatives were no better though, if not worse. Sometimes I think its a no win situation, and I will probably vote lib dem in the next generals, because ive been under both conservative and labour, theyre as bad as each other.

This is the party who took us into the EEC at the start, and then signed the Maastrict Treaty then?

    I voted yesterday :D

The wrong party got the majority of votes :(
And the candidate I voted for didn't get anywhere near the others - so yes, I think I can say that I come from a country where people are totally apathetic towards education (his core-points).
