@toffuna101 it really does suck that transition to adult A&E. Same for social care. The transition my brother is going through since turning 18 has been a nightmare. It's like, they get the same amounts of funding, but adult social care deals with 18 to forever, and child social care gets the same amount for 0 - 18. It has to cover like 5 times the people with the same budget.
I was in A&E in November, and the wait was insane, the whole thing was. Elderly standing up for hours on end, not enough seats, read a whole novel just waiting to get sorted with a severe infection that was getting worse and worse. Now when i was 10 and my hand had almost come off and i went to children's A&E (grizzly thing, half the wrist was gone, and the bone was exposed, but it amazingly missed my major arteries in it), i was sorted within an hour or so. It's a shame.
And yeah, i get it. I read more up about the state of it, and it's worse than i thought. You have people who were admitted to A&E with severe depression, they made clear there intentions, were released anyway and ended it an hour after leaving. It's horrifically common nowadays. I wish i could give you some support or advice, but there really isn't a lot. Just know, i'm proud of you for having reached out for support, i'm sorry they offered so little of it, and I'm always here on the Mix to talk to friend.
thank you. yeah there are less children than adults so obviously the wait is going to be shorter. i was in the adult A&E for 11 hours and after that they discharged me because ARC Rapid Response was going to come and visit me on the same evening. how long did you have to wait to be seen in november? i bet it was longer than the four hour target that the nhs set. @DonnerKebab
im still at the hospital waiting for tests now
@eylah oooohhh a maccies. What's you go to order? Big Mac, Wrap, or Chicken Nuggets?
what do you think youll order at mcdonalds?
@toffuna101 About 12 hours, and entire left side of my face was swollen at that stage to the extent it looked like i had a broken jaw and i couldn't drink at all and couldn't even talk. All they did was reduce the swelling, drain it, and give antibiotics at the end of the 12 hours, and give me something to lower my heart rate cause the infection had spread and was causing heart issues.
My back tooth had cracked on something hard prior, I couldn't get into a dentist for months to sort it, and it left the root exposed which ended up causing a dental infection which as i said spread like wildfire around my body. That's why i went into A&E. Got it sorted now, but damn, it was rough. Close to sepsis.
Anyway, i'm sorry that you wasn't given more support. It really is a disgrace that they aren't giving you the support you need.
damn that sounds painful, i hope youre ok now after that A&E visit in november. you may have physically recovered from it but mentally that mustve been hard to go through. im tempted to just do something in order to go back to A&E again and tell them that i need to be put into a psychiatric hospital because i cannot be managed in the community or at home, but then again would they even listen? i doubt it. im supposed to have a camhs appointment tomorrow but they want me to go to a city far away from my town so my dad said that he wont take me there so oh well. i guess ill struggle. @DonnerKebab
double cheeseburger coke & chips with chicken nuggets on side
yummy
@River awesome stuff. What's your go to order?
@eylah how are you? how did it all go?
only just seen this didn’t get a notification lol.
it went rly well! i managed to see the hospital ward im staying on before and after surgery so that’s gd. and they did all the tests they needed to do which was fine. but i am still extra scared abt this lol. but im just wanting this to hurry up ( next monday) so i can get it over with. but cant wait to be out of pain.
@eylah amazing stuff eylah. It's okay to be scared. There's nothing wrong with it, and given everything, it's truly superhuman that your being brave enough to do this. When your no longer in that pain, your life is going to be 1000 times better, and pain or no pain, you'll still always be my favourite twat
@Redemption Hey redemption, how are you doing? Good chat?
