Showering

TheNightmareTheNightmare Posts: 2,048 Boards Champion
I dont want to sound gross or lazy but I think I dislike showering. Like I have to open it, go in, turn it on, set the temperature then like wet myself like let the water run past you over you then scrub and it's just boring as well. I still do it obviously but I sometimes hesitate too. My uncle told me to shower for my interview and I did it but I was hesitent. I'm not sure if it's just due to my lower mood at time.

Is anyone else in the same boat where they don't like showering or hesitate too or might even delay it or is it just me?

Hey @TheNightmare. We can hear how you recognise the importance for hygiene but it requires motivation and energy.

Sometimes I think planning for it can be helpful or timing it for when less demands are required. It means I have more of the energy required.

Would you like to talk about your lower mood / interview?

Hey @TheNightmare just want to echo what Laura said above that it's great you understand the importance of hygiene but I also hear you that it can take quite a bit of energy, especially when you've got other stuff playing on your mind or a long to do list. I quite like showering but I'm not always a big lover of baths. Do you think a bath could be an option for you?

I also wanted to suggest putting on your favourite music! Sometimes when I do this it actually makes it harder for me to get out of the shower because I'm having such a good time having a boogie or singing. I also like to use products I'm excited about like a fun scented shower gel or particularly on days when I need more motivation like hair wash days (takes aaaages!) I tell myself something like "Well once it's done I can sit on the sofa with a cuppa and a yummy snack AND I'll be smelling good".

I hear you that you've been in a lower mood recently and I'm sure the interview was playing on your mind a lot. I hope it went well and we're here if you want to talk about anything <3

@Laura_tigger82 hygiene is definitely important but it does require a bit of motivation and energy too, I think once I'm in work I'll be a bit more motivated with this and everything because also I think like now I sometimes don't go out so why do I need to shower. Planning might be helpful too.

I've spoken about my interview to you on your other replies to my threads so I'll talk about my lower mood. So it's just where I'm worried about stuff, I might not be in the mood to do things I enjoy, I can be sensitive too, to minor comments and can get easily annoyed. I can struggle to sleep too. I think like stress causes me to struggle to sleep sometimes and I then I can get up with no sleep which can cause low mood too.

Thanks a lot for your reply and your other ones too, I really appreciate it.

Hey @Katie , I like getting replies from you. Im probably the opposite, I would enjoy a bath more tbh but unfortunately it costs more on the water bill so I think it wouldn't be an option. I could maybe put music on or nice shampoo like heads and shoulders. Sometimes when I'm in the shower I can find it a bit harder to get out too like the water is warm and I get used to it then it's cold when I get out. It's also good to smell nice and fresh after. A nice snack or drink is a nice suggestion too. You have some goid suggestions about it all. I have been thinking about the interview recently and it's been a bit of a tough time recently but I'm hoping things are improving now. I appreciate that you're here for me, like genuinely.

Also I wanted to ask, do you know how long you'll be sticking around here on boards? I've been happy to see you round, I think you said you'll be around for a few months, do you know until what month exactly. Anyway thanks a lot katie.

Thank you @TheNightmare I've been enjoying it here on the boards! I'm not entirely sure yet how long there isn't a set date or anything like that yet. I'm just helping out the community team but you'll definitely see me here for the next few months =)
