Hi,
I have gone far too long without help. It is not that I don't value myself or my life. And it is not that I self harm often... It is that o have. Childhood memories of self harming and I still have Impulsions to self harm and I do not know why.

Hey there @Past User and welcome to the community! I've just moved this thread to the Health and Wellbeing section of the boards as you may be able to get some more support here!

It sounds like things are pretty tough for you at the moment, it's understandably difficult to feel that you don't value yourself or your life. You said that you have gone too long without help, have you felt able to talk to anyone about how you have been feeling, like friends, family or a GP? You have done really well to reach out here though so well done for that!  <3

Do you want to talk more about the reasons why you don't value yourself or your life?

You mentioned self harm and that you are experiencing childhood memories of self harming, which sounds really hard for you. It can be tough to manage self harm urges and feelings, but you aren't alone! As @Past User said do you have any distractions that work for you? or worked previously?

Here  is a link to some distraction techniques if you fancy taking a look when you are ready.  <3

Welcome! It sounds like youre confused on if you need help ? Having impluse to self harm can be just as intrusive as actually self harm. It takes over your mind so much. -weather you do it or not. And you deserve supprt if you feel you need it. Do you imagine you'd seek other support. IM glad you have do  here <3
“And when they look at you, they won't see everything you've been through. They won't see the **** that turned to scars that began to fade with time. They won't see the heartbreaking things that shook up and changed your entire world. They won't know how many tears you cried or even what it was you were crying about. They won't see how strong you had to be because you had no other choice. What they will see though is how compassionate you are because you experienced pain. What they will see is how kind you are because you experienced how cruel the world is. What they will see is how good you are because you've seen how bad things or people can be. The difference between you and your experiences are who you choose to be, despite everything that could have turned you cold and unkind. You are the good the world needs and the best of us.” ~ Kirsten Corley
