Girl from Mars, I'll miss him....It was interesting having someone that didnt go along with every politically correct idea going at the time just to look cool. I come to this site to talk about politics with different people...Theres now one less point of view..I now wonder how long it will be until I come upon a subject that the admin dont like and I am kicked off as well.

I think by banning him the admins just went to prove the Americans point about how Britain is today.

Perhaps the intent is to ban ALL divergent ideas, especially those outside of your country? Want to keep the flock pure from tainting by those of another ideology? Much more easily herded that way?

Perhaps the intent is simply to ban ALL Americans? A little jealousy there, perhaps? or perhaps a smug arrogance?

I'm the one that used the word shirtlifter, so how come I'm not banned ?

This is like the Gov't run by that two faced, weak, Tiny Blur and his cronies, You can say or do what you want as long as it agrees with them.

So we can't call people names but we can tell them to fuck off, that really makes sense.

You need people with differing views here other wise it would just be lots of boring posts.

I hope it is not the intent to ban all you Yankees because you are a minority here and that would mean the Mods/Admin were rasist towards a minority.

But maybe the Mods/Admin are all a product of this Liberal do gooder culture that is ruining this country and spreading like an unstoppable cancer and they are young and have not yet tasted "real" life or the "real" world.

I really think u r missing the point here....infact u really dont have a clue if u seriously think thesite is about banning anybody from America or anybody with a different oppinion.

Please, that is more than a little pathetic dont u think? However if it makes u feel better about the whole situation, to tell yourself that certain people were banned due to thesite being jelous etc, then go ahead and fool yourself! Why cant you understand that it was related to the insults he trew around?

Oh and to defend myself about my foul mouth...it is foul and I have never claimed to not use bad language. The difference is that I dont go insulting people just because they have a different lifestyle (ie being gay etc) to the one I lead.

If u truly beleive that calling some one a ****** , bitch-boy, and anything else insulting towards gay people is on the same level as saying fuck off then there is no hope of u ever realising why these people got banned!

Thanatos and Co got tons of insults for just thinking differently, let alone acting differently..

Who do you see it as ok to insult someone purely because they have a different opinion than you?

He doesnt like gays, you dont like anti-gays...Why is it ok to insult someone just because they dont agree with you?

I gotta say my arse is getting talked about an awfull lot on here lately...should I be worried??? Nah Ill get over it lmfao (ooopppss there goes another arse!)!

Its not about winning anything and this is no competition in my eyes. I only state my oppinion just like everyone else and unfortunatly some peoples oppinions wernt only that as they used disgusting name calling towards anyone in the slightest bit different to themselves.

The only thing I have won is the right to stay a member of thesite...the only reason for that is coz I respect people r whatever they r in life and nobody has the right to say what is natural when it comes to human beings...not to mention the fact I do not use disgusting name calling or insults about other members different to myself

On that note, Im off to another topic coz this ones getting boring now

I would never insult anybody for having a different oppinion to me, as long as they stated their oppinion without having to use offensive names etc.

I am a fair and just person and accept that everyone is entitled to their own oppinions...what I am not standing for is someone expressing their veiws and at the same time going too far with their insults.

U r not a silly person and Im not going to explain myself anymore when I am pretty sure u know the situation and how things are. Nothing more is needed from me to explain to u how things are around here...its getting silly now!

I've been observing this for sometime. I believe you are right in the fact that we must agree to disagree. Some need a lesson in tact and manners, perhaps.

One that disagrees with you is not necessarily wrong and should not be treated as such.

Cheers!

Should not the rules apply to all? Seems a select few were conveniently overlooked, perhaps this was because they are were on the "right side of the tracks".

As a new poster here who has thus far only been lurking... how DOES one express deeply held beliefs without being banished? Is it REALLY necessary to be one of the bleeting sheep to be allowed to remain? It would appear that tacky language was expressed by ALL, and the rude suggestions made by them who are still here.

As I read the post by Thanatos, he was not actually inviting "lolly" to a depraved act, but attempting to make a rhetorical point. Lolly herself stated that she was no more offended than if he had offered her a bouquet of flowers.

Why the discriminatory banning? Shouldn't ALL be treated equally???

Defraging the puter all day...sorry for not geting back to continuing some of my thoughts.

As I see it thrugh my plastic eyes...it is a matter of english...we all speak some version of it but definately differently and what is nothing to one is a grand insult to the other...let's not weaken the discussion with explamation...suffice to say...I remember well attempting to be inoffensive to my host by using a word, "wog", as one would use toad, etc., to bring attention to a 'lesser' subject (which I now totally forget)....

Consider this it you will and haven't yet been banned. We came here to visit...and it is true, some of US have a less than great opinion of the english and the UK in general...pears there has been some 'friendly' insulting going on since at least 1812...maybe earlier.

We need to be able to discuss these differences withoug 'open warfare' which is generally misunderstood...and as I must leave for a while...tata!

I feel that they were probably dumped because they were trolls, that is they posted in a manner that was deliberately ofensive with no intention to discuss any issues, merely to see how many people they can upset.

Kids kick over ant hills, and revel in their god like power over the tiny mortals that panic in the presence of their mightyness, They know the terrible fear the ants must feel faced with the mighty juggernaught.

The ants, of courese don't even notice the child, but go about their normal business, dealing with the exposed parts of the nest and tunnel damage

if than. (or anyone else, even the uber-posters) had used offensive language to, say, insult chinese people or whoever else, then they would have been banned for being racist. right?
but, prejudice against homosexuals is clearly still more acceptable to some than racism, therefore they think (like the thans) that sexualism (discrimination/insulting people on the grounds of their sexuality) is ok, and should be freely expressed. in some people's eyes, they may be right. in others, they are no better than the KKK.

and as for those who say that homosexuality is a mental disorder; i would seriously doubt you have ever spoken to a gay person, right? it would be equivalent to saying that being black is a biological disorder, or being female is. how fuckin stupid is that?!

as for foul language, we all swear here. most of it is used for informality and bad humour. some of it is used to reinforce meaning. some of it may be used to tell people to fuck off. what is not acceptable is to use any language, whether swearing or the queen's own english, to deliberately and forcibly express an extreme and highly offensive viewpoint on the matters of gender, race, religion, or sexual preference. the same rules apply to all, not just americans, not just newbies.

prejudice against homosexuals is clearly still more acceptable to some than racism,

I cant blame anyone for that..People dont choose to be white, black etc but as no one has a definitive reason for why homosexuals exist it cant be put down to something beyond their control.

Theres an argument that says homosexuality is a choice. However strange this may sound to some, it cannot be disproved at present.

If you ascribe to this belief then the logic is fine. You dont get a choice of your colour but you get to choose if you want to fancy blokes.

Mainly put forward by the homophobes, to justify their views. There is no evidence that the 'choice' argument is true either. I would question the assumption that ALL homosexuals decided that they would be such.

Again, I'm not suggesting that YOU are homophobic Balddog, but you do seem to put forward alot of homophobic arguments. Coincidence, or just a good Devil's Advocate?

MOK,
There is no evidence that the 'choice' argument is true either

I think thats my point...The origin of homosexuality is still in question. It cant be proved to be choice but it also cant be disproved. Its beyond doubt that we dont get to choose our skin colour. Not so with homosexuality and thats where the controvosy lies.

Insulting someone because of something they cant control is out of order. Insulting someone who chooses to be the way he is? Less clear cut.

For example, I regularly insult Labour supporters..Does that make me a bad person for insulting them based on who they choose to support? No it doesnt.

If I insult someone for being Welsh; something they cant control, then I am out of order.

If you want to brand me a homophobe then feel free to do so. I'll put forward arguments for a lot of things if it causes discussion but it doesnt mean I agree with all those arguments....If you want to think it then go ahead. You dont know me from adam so I really dont care..If you knew me personally I doubt you would think im a homophobe.

Balddog,

I may choose to be Muslim, Buddhist or Christian, or it may be I have a belief I am born into through circumstances outside of my control, does that give you the right to belittle my faith??

To balance this however, no-one can "prove" that the Universe was created by the Big Bang or through divine intervention, but which would you rather believe??
• Options
Former MemberFormer Member Posts: 1,876,323 The Mix Honorary Guru
Lord of Little,
does that give you the right to belittle my faith??

Speaking frankly, yes it does...If you made the choice to be a christian/muslim etc then you are accountable for that choice. People will always disagree with things, theres no changing that. If you choose to join a controversial group(religion) then you can expect to be insulted by those who dont agree with you.

Being a muslim/chrisian is something you can choose not to be..your colour isnt..If someone doesnt like the insults then they can choose not to be a christian..If a black guy doesnt like the insults he cannot choose to be white/asian etc.
To balance this however, no-one can "prove" that the Universe was created by the Big Bang or through divine intervention, but which would you rather believe??

Thats exactly what im saying...I dont believe that god made the earth but millions of people do believe that. There is no proof so despite what I believe I cannot completely rule out divine intervention.

Maybe its just me but I require definitive proof before I totally dismiss an idea..Well I know its not just me
