So I don't know if anyone else is a bit like me but I tend to watch some tv shows occasionally, eg CSI etc and some shows religiously, ie in order, straight away etc etc. so what series are you currently watching through?

for me the standard (ie they never change) are

NCIS,
Burn Notice, (waiting for S4 to premire)
House MD,
Chuck,

I also watch a few, non religiously, but moving through them slowly,

Supernatural,
Dexter,

I've also just started to watch Sons of Anarchy and White Collar as well, Ie 3 episodes of White Collar today and 2 of SoA. as I watch Dr Who Every week.

So what would you call your religious must have shows

I am usually rubbish at watching things that are on once a week as I forget they are on. I do watch Greys Anatomy every week though. This is something I do remember to watch.

Others I watch are lost, brothers and sisters, and supernatural.

Always watch Outnumbered...but nothing else, I am pretty crap at following things and I hate things like 24 and CSI.

    Fringe. I love Walter.

    Glee
    Big Bang Theory
    Modern Family

I'd say that's it ... I need to start up with Criminal Minds again.

I used to watch others religiously before they turned shit - eg Heroes, Lost, Desperate Housewives.

Treme, which may be the best thing I've seen on television and has Melissa Leo...
    Extreme Makeover: Home Edition
    Big Bang Theory
    Lost (nearly there!)
    Fringe
    Pacific
Criminal Minds (can't wait for the spin-off after the episode featuring the new team)

and about to give Southland a try, to see if it's as good a post-Shield fix as people have said.

I haven't heard of the last three at all. I like discovering new and interesting TV!

Btw Jim - I got the BG season 1, should I watch the mini series first though?

Yep, although you don't have to watch it, many of the themes and the specific storylines start and then build from the pilot. It also features an astounding moment from Adama towards the end. It's a scene that really defines who he is and what he means to his crew. So yeah, well worth watching it first :)

You've never heard of Criminal Minds? My Goddess! *shocked face* My future hubby is Dr Reid. If someone could find me one of them, I'd be wet and happy for the rest of my life.

you don't have such a pointy adam's apple. I think Dr Reid is hot for his character as much as, if not more than, his looks.

Southland turned out to be excellent - feels a lot like 'Colors' the Sean Penn/Dennis Hopper LA set cop movie. Less theatrical than The Wire and less exaggerated than The Shield. Probably Hill Street Blues is the closest comparison.

There are a couple of strange moments - the whole thing is censored, swearing is constantly bleeped, which I can't figure out - it's either because it's on a major network or because it wants to imply it's a 'fly on the wall show' like 'Cops'. It can be distracting but it's not too bad.

There's also a couple of moments that are clearly just in the show for the audience, with seasoned detectives 'discovering' the 10-year rape kit backlog, etc, stuff that deserves to be discussed but it just doesn't make any sense that veteran po-po wouldn't already be aware of it.

Highly recommended though, not that I'd know but it does feel authentic, which is always a plus in a cop show.

I'm watching The West Wing (again!) and V, the new version (which is nowhere near as good as the original).. also The Pacific (which isn't Band of Brothers) and Heroes...

I think with the sixth and seventh episode it's becoming more clear what The Pacific is compared to Band of Brothers. It's more personal but as the episodes pass it's clear it's building to a terrible conclusion. The episodes set on Peleliu have been unlike anything I've ever felt watching a war film, maybe with the exception of Come and See.
