When someone is having a debate and they make a statement, do you not think it important to know whether or not its based off fact or opinion. All you had to say was I think environmental factors player a small role in influencing rapists and then state why. You presented it as a matter of fact statement.
I'm sorry I didn't know we were limiting ourselves to the "normal" porn industry. Kiddie porn is porn whether you want to catagorize as that or not. Its also a good example of how porn can go unregulated. What about adlults in poverty stricken countries, or illegal immigrants, or other women even in our country. Do you not think they are pushed into an underground porn industry.
My mistake..I credited you and the other posters here with some common sense. I didnt think I had to explain myself seeing as it would have been totally impossible for my statements to have been known fact.
I had assumed we were talking about the legal porn industry, which is why i made the statements regarding regulation...I thought that was what everyone had been talking about prior to your post...Obviously illegal/criminal porn is bad, thats not in dispute.
You could have easily read some literature on rape and derived that statement from someone elses research. research methods and polls and experiments are conducted by psychologist everyday to find out why people act the way they do. The way you made your remark sounded as though it may have come from some creditated resource which its now obvious it didn't and the only reason I didn't think it did before is because it ludicrous. It doesn't take an genius to figure out environmental factors play more than a very small part of who we become.
Look, I have porn at home myself, but I'm not dumb enough to overlook the fact that its a fowl industry. It does degrade women and men's attitudes toward them(even more than makeup). That's about the dumbest analogy I've ever heard. If I had to make the choice maybe I'ld say porn stays, but at the same time I realize that society and myself are probably better off without it.
Anyway, im out of this thread now...Its been totally hijacked and ive covered this exact argument on the other forum in the last week. When a disucssion comes down to petty arguments about post style and protocol then you know its down the toilet.
