why are holidays so expensive?

in 2028 or in 2029 when ill be 20 and 21 respectively i want to go on a disneyland cruise ship with my dad since i believe ill have saved up enough money to go there. if im lucky ill be able to go in 2028 and if it takes me a considerable amount of time to find a job for myself ill go in 2029. but i looked at the prices for a cruise ship to depart england and to go to norway for seven nights and then back to england at the end of it just for august of 2026 and for an accessible room it totals up to £7k. like what the hell? thats just under £1k a night just for an oceanview room. and yes the oceanview room was the only accessible type of room. i have cerebral palsy so id need those adaptions. there is an option to go from england to the netherlands and then back to england at the end of it for three nights and that costs just over £2k for an accessible oceanview room which is way more affordable but since these are both cruises for august of 2026 i cant help but wonder. what will the prices be like in 2-3 years? and why are holidays so expensive?

Cruises in particular are very very expensive. It would depend on what you wanted to do on holiday. If you only want to see a particular area, you would honestly be cheaper booking a hotel - even all inclusive tends to be cheaper than that for 2 people.

would that include roundtrip flights too if you booked a hotel too? on some websites like tui you can book them all together.

Yes your package holidays are generally cheaper, so the likes of Tui, Jet 2, etc. V much depends what you’re after. Cruises might be worth it if you like to see lots of different places and explore them in the time you’re away, but if you don’t, they are extraordinarily expensive when you can book a hotel with the same facilities as the ship

yeah thats true. ill try looking for cheaper package holidays and see what i come up with.

Hi @toffuna101, I can hear how you're concerned about the cost of travelling. And it's true - cruises can be very expensive (especially Disney-branded ones!), so looking at that category of travel in particular can be difficult to stomach the cost.

There's other ways to travel that are far cheaper - as @independent_ mentions, getting a flight and hotel with accessibility requirements will likely be a far cheaper option, and sites like booking.com or travel providers that offer package trips should be good platforms to find out which places are best for your needs.

Are there any locations that you really want to explore? You've mentioned Norway and the Netherlands (both cheap to fly to), any others? Just curious!

maybe spain. ive looked at holiday packages with tui and jet 2 holidays but none really caught my eye because i really want to go on a disney cruise instead. im also open to going to disneyland paris but i dont really like going on rides so it probably wont be worth it.

Not only are cruises expensive, but anything with the disney label takes that to another level imo.

Edited to add that this is not meant to mean that I think disney holidays are a bad thing. If you can afford and enjoy them, then that’s amazing - it’s a good goal to have in mind, but they will never be cheap

im just waiting for the itineraries to release for the summer of 2027. ill probably have to wait until at least february but patience is key.
