πŸ›Έ 🌍 Are we not alone? πŸ›Έ 🌍

I know this subject doesn't technically come under politics to day the least but I'd thought it would be an interesting topic in itself.

For centuries scientists and astronomers have been trying to figure out wether there are other lifeforms and planets that exist in our solar system. There are probably thousands of solar systems that have not yet been explored. A lot of scientists have been studying radio waves in space to see whether other life could be potentially communicating with us. In fact they have found I think another planet that resembles Earth and could be potentially another Earth that us humans could colonise in the near future.

I'd love to hear your thoughts and whether you think that we are truly not alone than we think we are or are there other life forms or species we haven't found yet. What kind of planets would you want to find too.

to be fair if WE exist as lifeforms, there's gotta be some other aliens out there LOL

Same here as well because I think that would be so cool if there were other lifeforms and aliens out there. It would be so funny if Star Wars was actually Canon in our universe πŸ˜‚

Good question @Amy22 (and don't worry, this is the right place for a debate!). I'd agree with @slovie - given the size of the universe and the number of planets we've already identified as having the potential to host life, it's probable that life exists elsewhere in the universe.

If it does, most of them are likely quite simple organisms, because the combination of climate conditions that are needed to develop more complex creatures like humans are quite narrow. But the idea that there could be another species out there that could be intelligent enough to communicate with Earth is both terrifying and exciting - as you'd expect when it comes to the huge unknowns of the universe!

I'm unsure if you saw, but technically, it is extremely likely single celled organisms exist in the upper cloud layer of venus. I'll post a few links.

There are by-products that generally speaking can only be produced in the quantity's found in venus's cloud layer, by biological life. It's theorised that single celled organisms like bacteria do exist in the upper cloud layer of venus, which is the only area where life could somewhat exist on that planet. The big question for me isn't whether life exists, i'm certain it does. it's whether intelligent multicellular life exists. Multicellular organisms take a lot more to evolve into existence than single celled organisms. In fact, here's a few facts to give you an idea of how much harder it is to evolve into intelligent life.

Earth has been around for 4.5 billion years. Conditions on earth needed for life to form has been around for roughly 4.3 billion years. The first single celled organisms developed 3.7 billion years ago, and multicellular organisms have existed for 0.6 billion years. And from that, complex life formed.

It takes a lot longer for intelligent complex life to form from single celled organisms, than life itself took to form if that makes sense. So i'm certain life exists on other planets, but i'm unsure if it's intelligent life. Plus, the sheer distance of space makes it impossible to make contact even if intelligent life existed.

Hiya just saw this on my emails earlier on but this is so dascinaging and as you said if there's a possibility of single cell organisms living in venus clouds then that opens up a lot more possibilities too on whether single cell organisms can live outside of Earth. I don't think it's close to proper evolution/humans being created but I think it's still cool that there are atoms everywhere and bacteria that make single cell organisms as well *I think I might be wrong on this*
