so fun fact about me im an orthodox christian since i was christened when i was really young. but id like to switch to protestant christianity. i just feel like i align with protestant christianity more. my dad said that i have to wait until im 18 aka an adult and my mum said at first that i dont need to but when i told her what my dad said she said "ok wait until youre an adult but not now". i just wanted to know the process behind switching christian denominations. would i still have to get christened to become a protestant christian? im hoping you help me with this because i found nothing on the internet of the process from switching from orthodox to protestant christian. i asked chatgpt as well but chatgpt isnt accurate at times. its fine if no one answers this thread though as this is not on the top of my priority list since even if i was told the answer to this since id still have to wait until im 18. ive had a mixed relationship with religion as a whole in the past but this time i feel like i really know what to do now. this is because i had a whole conversation with my dad yesterday before going to sleep about religion and christianity.

Hi @toffuna101, thank you for sharing this with us. I can hear how you're thinking about your faith and looking at switching to another branch of Christianity. How do you feel about potentially switching over to becoming a Protestant?

I think you've done the right thing by contacting a faith-based helpline, as they can provide you with guidance on how it works, the rules of switching branches etc. I hope that your visit to the church goes well and gives you the answers you're looking for. We're here to listen to you!

i feel pretty positive about it. my parents have no issues with me switching over to a different branch of christianity as long as im an adult. i mean im turning 17 in july anyways so even if i do switch branches now it wont be that big of a deal. i mean my dad considers 16 to be kind of like an adult anyways so he and my mum wont freak out about it i think. thank you, i hope my visit to a church goes well too.

ok so i visited the church today and it went well. i gave them £5 because they were so nice to me. basically they said that i need to talk to the vicar about me switching to protestant christian. and shes on holiday at the moment so id need to wait the week after next sunday to talk to her. i dont even know if ill be able to talk to her because of the times that the carer comes so that they can take me to the church. so maybe ill just come on a thursday to their coffee, tea and toast morning instead. we'll see.

i also learnt through browsing the internet that protestant christianity is not a denomination within itself but its just a branch of christianity. there are denominations of protestant christianity such as anglican and i feel like since the church that i went to today is protestant and its linked with the church of england so their denomination is likely anglican.
