I thought we might have a go at Only Connect. Start with the first round for now, to keep it simple.
Here's how it works. List 4 connected things, and people have to work out the connection.
e.g.
(1) Scary
(2) Sporty
(3) Posh
(4) Baby
Obviously, these are all Spice Girls. Try to make them a little harder
Here's my first attempt:
(1) Mr. Rochester
(2) Julian, Dick, Anne and George
(3) The Baskervilles
(4) Winston Churchill

Jane comes across Mr Rochester's dog when he's thrown from the horse.
The 5th member of the famous five was Timmy, a dog.
If we're going Hound of the Baskervilles then the Baskerville's are haunted by the spectre of a hellhound, IIRC.
Winston Churchill was referred to by the Russians as the British Bulldog. Also the silly nodding dog from the adverts.
Which? The theme of dogs or literary dogs?
This isn't really catching on, is it?
Only because you already told me the answer
No, the answer was, specifically, 'black dogs'.
Hence why she said your last answer was wrong, because you got the link wrong .
Good puzzle, Piccolo!
All I can think of is that I don't like the look of any of them
Anyone got any ideas?
They've all been up something
David up the north pole
Thames barrier up in the air
Gary Glitter up kids
Enrique up the charts
N.B. Could also apply to down (south pole for our Dave)
Glitter was forced to fly home after he was refused entry to Vientam/HK etc. after the child porn case.
And Enrique Inglesias once had to make a emergency landing (another case of being forced).
8th of May
My go
Mine, wheel, aeroplane, candle.
Well, the only thing I can think of at the moment is they are all revolutionary discoveries/inventions.
The candle allowed us to see in the dark, the wheel allowed us to venture into previously undiscovered areas/ move heavy items around and the areoplane allowed us to discover the world easily.
As this thread seems to of, unfortunately, dieded
They're all...... types of firework.
Catherine Wheel
Roman Candle.
A mine is a self contained mini-mortar that shoots stars etc from the ground, rather than a shell into the air.
Aeroplane, also called helicopter. Banned now, used to put them on the ground/wall, light it and it span off into the night - or your face !
Try another one!
Yes, all metallic elements but it's not that. Scary should get this.
edit: Oh man, now I have this going round my head just in time for bedtime....
edit edit: I know know the answer. But I cheated so won't say!
I know there's an answer not to do with the element song, just it jumped into my head before I finished reading the four elements. I'm a science nerd like that...!
And in this case, cheating was educational.
It's nothing to do with the type of element, their weight, any physical property, order, position on the periodic table.
These would not be in the list oxygen, magnesium, chromium, Arsenic
