Having just watched Trainspotting, I was thinking about British films. Can anyone recommend any good ones? Preferably ones that weren't made purely to make money in America.
Oh and if anyone else is interested, I recommend My Summer Of Love (directed by a polish director, but that's not the point). I also want to watch Young Adam with Ewan McGregor, so if anyone's seen it, let me know what you thought. Oh and Secrets and Lies. But it's depressing that British film is so shit generally, and not really even made for British audiences. So recommend me some films that'll change my mind.

Children of Men is a brilliant UK film.
Also Withnail & I, The Loneliness of the Long Distance Runner, Sexy Beast, Kes, The Crying Game, My Beautiful Launderette and there must be loads more but I'm drawing a blank at the mo.
Don't think there's many good British Movies though recently - I like the old ones like the carry on movies and Alfred Hitchcock's frenzy.
i have heard Plunket and Maclene is good, but i havent seen it.
Everything seems to be horrible about British films, the common accent, the chavi cloths and the sky is always dull.
Kes is also a gud'un...

Welcome to Sarejevo - very sad true story about the war in Jugoslavia - though just having looked it up on IMDB it might not even be a British Film but it is very good.

All together now..
