i'm so glad dogs don't have periods. i wouldn't fancy changing a dogs tampon!! :yuck:
The bitches can have an op (which mine have) that removes the womb to stop them getting periods.

they are quite intelligent which mean they can be quite stubborn, but they're wasilly trainable. They do need a lot of attention and excercise though.
So, they'd match up fine with a lab and a collie?

I can't see why not. They're incredibly loyal, tolerant of any abuse by kids such as ear pulling, intelliegent because of the terrier in them (though not as clever as collies), and they full of energy.

My dog's a small staffie as they go, and therefore much faster than most but then I also strictly watch what she eats.

    .

I love Staffies but I'm afraid my heart will always lie with Border Collies. You just can't beat them for intelligence and loyalty. .

have to agree with GWST, fab dogs. Wouldn't advise anyone to get a dalmatian unless they had alot of free time and patience - my tuppence worth!

The problem is with Dalmations is that if there spots aren't perfect they aren't wanted :(
I love them but I'd defo get one from an animal sanctuary.
All my dogs and pets bar one have been rescued. If I ever have anymore I will carry on with the same pattern.

As with a lot of white animals, they're often born deaf. My mates got white boxers - and trait that is deemed a fault and therefore they're often put down.

I'd would consider getting a dog from a sanctuary but the idea of getting a pedigree pub is far more appealing.

The cat we had that was resued was a Persian and the Yorkshire Terrior my mum got was from a dog's home rescue place.

But we've also had mongrols and they tend to be in much better health as Pedigrees can have a lot of genetic defects.

shes lovey. She looks like one of those nodding dogs in the back of cars. Have you ever thought of using her as one?

Staffs are great family pets. Excellent reputation with children.

Anyway, after reading this thread I'm now considering getting a staffordshire terrior for the first time, the OP's dog seems like a real sweetheart. I have in the past considered larger dogs, labradors and collies. So, a few questions. What're they like with other dogs? (because I was always going to have more than one dog at a time) Do they dribble a lot? (because I think that's gross) How big do they get?

    Only just seen this.

They don't dribble, and because of their short hair they tend to stay clean very easilly and therefore don't smell. As with all dogs, if you socialise them properly when they're young they'll get on well with other dogs and people.

Bitiches tend to be quite a bit smaller than dogs. They are relativleyt small dogs, but with the strength and stamina of a large log.

id definitely recommend them. Our ones a cross breed (not sure what with) shes only about two thirds the size of most staffs, but shes such an intelligent dog, compared to all the dogs ive had. Really aware - like a little person. I dont know if theyre all like that though. Shes great with other dogs, friendly but doesnt hassle them if they dnt want to play. Fab with children and loves other people in general. Good with cats too!

all of our 3 dogs were pedigrees. we got mabel (she's not with us anymore :() when she was a puppy from a rescue centre because she was too playful for the owners and she used to chew their kitchen work tops. we got mollie (her half sister) from the same place but she was born at the place i think. we got our latest addition from a breeder down in oxford, he cost around £900 i think. the other 2 cost £400 ish.
