Do you think the UK would have a moral obligation, or any other kind of obligation, to this Jamaican man, who shouldn't even be in the UK in the first place?
Yes I do actually. I dont believe asylum seekers or refugees should be sent back if it is not safe to do so. I actually think that people should be free to live where they want.

put him in prison, same rules as for people from this country.
Why should we pay for him when he shouldnt be here in the first place?

But the crime was committed over here, so it does make sense (to me anyway) for him to be put in prison over here...

What? Are you saying we should, in this example, allow some rapist to gain citizenship to this country?

Why should the public have to foot the bill then?

no not that specific example, I was more thinking about Blagstas example of the jamaican gay guy tbh.
Every case is different, and just because someone is illegal at first, it doesnt mean they wont get acceptance eventually (not talking about criminals atm) All asylum seekers come here illegally at first, but its not illegal if theyre seeking asylum (if you see what I mean) If someone commits a crime when theyre here, then its a tricky situation, but it doesnt mean they should be sent back necessarily if its not safe to send them back. It depends on the crime, and it depends on the individual circumstances.
