hallucinations...

Former MemberFormer Member Posts: 1,876,323 The Mix Honorary Guru
can you tell me what makes it a hallucination and not simply a daydream? see, i get these images of this girl who is all mutilated every so often but i see her through my mind's eye more so than being there in reality.....i can't tell if this is a hallucination or just an over active imagination....when is it considered a hallucination?

Are you actually seeing a girl getting mutilated? If you are then you're sufferring from a halliucination.

Ok well you're not having a hallucination if it's just in your mind. I can picture naked women in my mind. Doesn't mean I'm having a hallucination. Maybe there's a deeper meaning for why you keep picturing that image?

Do these thoughts just randomly enter your head with no provocation during the day? If so, may be worth looking into with a physciatrist etc .

Well, it might be easier if you just notice what happens as it becomes further away, the colour drains from it and it goes out of focus.

    Just a thought, like.

ive always wondered if it really is an hallucination-does the person realise that its just that, or would they think it was real?

When I have hallucinations they seem 100% real at the time. It is only afterwards that I realise it could not have been.

    Yes

Although if they were of something more rationally viable then I probably wouldn't realise afterwards.

i dont use anything like that, but i did notice you can buy salvia in tobacconist shops in Canada, not that thats much use to you.
And if its drug induced- i hope its pleasant for you.
I heard a voice tell me it was going to kill me. Dont know who it was or why. mystery!

Why would you actually want to have a hallucination?

no, but it seems to be the same one every time and to answer someone elses question, yes, they do occur randomly throughout the day, not everyday though.

Could you describe her in details?

Any particular detail you attach your attention to when you see her?

btw don't worry about, people live with visual and/or audio hallucination ok...

Until they've committed an offence and claim they were told to do it.

But dont be silly, hallucinations arent normal, especially if theyre upsetting/disturbing to the person.

Schnook- if its bothering you enough, talk to you're doctor.

Well I guess I'm lucky I haven't committed mine yet then...

People can live with hallucinations, personality disorders and voices in their heads normally more than you can think. It is just a question of habit.

A doctor opinion i always good, the only trouble is sometimes they tend to just give you pills that make the problem virtually go away.

But surely if someone has hallucinations as part of a mental illness, someone should know (gp, psych) and some sort of treatment/care plan be available to treat the cause? Obviously its personal choice on whether u want that. Guess it depends how it affects u
