According to the latest, he was a soldier, not a policeman.

I am guessing that the whole operation was military then.

based on the information we had at the time?

eye witnesses were telling the truth from the begining ...loads of them but ...many people seemed to blank all that out somehow. :chin:

Well not all of them because it was eye witnesses who claimed he was wearing bulky clothing, running and had wires sticking out of his jacket.

The police didn't really do much to disabuse anyone of that did they?

    read the independant today
    what happened was as followed

1.they followed him on the bus after an officer suspected him when watching the flats
    2. he went into the station normally(not jump the barrier)
    3. he ran for his train (he hadnt been approached)
    3. when he was sitting down, police dragged him onto the floor and he was then shot 11 times, 3 times missing (compared to 7 as reported previously)

the MET should be done for corporate manslaughter, or the officers who covered this up

mind you most of the people who said he was wearing a bulky jacket were bystanders

That was one guy who also said he was running, the police identified themselves, he had vaulted the barrier etc etc

The bald guy with the single earring and bad civvies who probably was one of the shooting team.

And now we have more information with some suggesting that Ian Blair didnt want an independant investigation at all.

Because it was thought (apparently) this man was a terrorist they discussed the option of only having an internal investigation into his death. This lead to a delay in the IPCC investigation of 4 days.

    http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/4161572.stm

"Sir Ian wrote to the Home Office on the morning of Mr Menezes' death to make sure the terrorist investigation took precedence over any IPCC investigation.

Scotland Yard said Sir Ian had believed the dead man was linked to terrorism when he made the request.

Later that day, the Metropolitan Police agreed to hand over the shooting investigation to the IPCC. Its officers took over the inquiry the following Monday"
