Byres admits "not being truthful" to MPs

Story.

Just like the rest of the New Labour scum, I'd say.
Beep boop. I'm a bot.

He should have his pension nabbed back for that, though of course he wont.

Once upon a time when an MP (let alone a member of the Cabinet) was found to have lied (let alone lying to a Commons Committee) he or she would immediately resign.

You have to wonder what does it take for one of these lot to actually resign nowadays...

I love the way he "can't remember" his motives for telling an outright lie.

I don't know about having his pension removed, he should be in prison.

Lying to Parliment is actually classed as perjury isnt it?

    I thought it was too.

The only problem being the fact that MPs enjoy legal privileges in chambers. This of course means that "people" like Blair can talk about an elderly woman's personal medical records in public without her consent.

I suspect that once the court case is over he'll be having an interview without coffee with the Parlaimentary Standards Board (or whatever they're called).

Didn't he previously admit to lying over Rover as well or is that just my faulty memory?

If he did deliberately lie to Parliament he should be in jail.

That's why I put 'deliberately lie'. Blair in my mind has either said things he thought were true (ie not deliberate) or he has been careful not to tell a direct untruth. Politicians are actually very careful not to tell direct lies - Byers is one of the few cases I can think off where someone has deliberately lied without the excuse of national security.
