Well the boards provide peer support, askTheSite allows people to contact professionals who work in the fields that their questions are about.

askTheSite is also totally confidential, and as another free service is simply another avenue to advice about drink and drugs, just as Brook's answers to sex questions are, or our relationship experts advice in that section

    >>>what makes you think that there is a problem with them<<<<<

Well, if your gonna do answers from Peter Martins 'Addaction' why not say go to the ~ 'Talk-to-frank' site, as a high percentage of callers to 'talk-to-frank' who need treatment and/or rehabilitaion, will be referred onto mostly Addaction and Turning Point projects, which include CDT's etc etc etc

    >>>.becouse they give out wrong answers<<<<<<

As written above, but if you want decent answers then you have to find specialist workers, as there is far too much misinformation out there, including in the statutory sector.

example Alcohol is more dangerous than heroin.

Except of course that it isnt. Physically heroin might be safer on the body if you know the dose and you know what you are doing. But the dose to OD ratio is too close and injecting yourself with anything, even pure pharmacy grade is difficult.

I doubt it, TheSite does have links with some people who know what they are talking about, they occasionally prove this by writing a fact sheet without an error.

Not only did you bring our integrity into question, you took my name in vain. You are skating on thin ice young man.

I did not bring your integrity into question at all. I specifically stated that you had people who knew what they were talking about with you, and I explained about Addaction.

The bit about ex ravers and ex junkies was meant to be in the spirit of jest, which I thought was clear, though its not all that far from the truth.

Generally speaking, IV Heroin user's will experience an OD after two years using. Most OD's will be either through where their tolerance level has dropped, eg, being banged up in chokey for a period of time whilst scoreing low grade or going abstinance for the duration, then comming out and whacking in the same amount of dosage, or where they are classed as 'poly drug user's' eg, using Alcohol and Benzo's as well as brown.

If you go back and re-read the Bezo and Heroin thread, you can indeed live a 'normal' life and function day-to-day whist IV'ing. The problem is, the purity of the gear in the first place, the avilabilty of clean spikes and barrels, and the knowledge of haveing a hit eg, Alcohol swab the site first, rotate the sites, dont use other peoples spoon, filters, works and even tournaquets etc etc etc as this will indeed, transmit Hep C.

The point of my mumbling's was, Alcohol is the most dangerous drug ( Withdrawals and to rehabilitate from, as it's so ingrained into our society ) and Heroin is a very highly addictive drug. 1 grain can be enougth for physical addiction.

The first point is debatable yes heroin is addictive but the idea that such a small amount can get you physically addictive is just plain wrong.

    aha, hello Jade,

that wasn't my own interpretation. I've only ever chased it once, for the experience.

I doubt if anyone would disagree with that. "generallyspeaking" 1 grain is enough to trigger both psychological and physical dependence on Heroin, and show signs of withdrawals.

    1 grain = 65mg.

John the Hippy, you have been warned about posting unsubstantiated information like this before.

Just so everyone who is reading this thread is clear, the evidence states that to become addicted to opiates you need to take them regularly over a period of time before you become addicted. This is why doctors are able to prescribe synthetic opiates to people who need serious pain relief in the short term without them getting addicted.

The information on Erowid about dosage states the usual dosages for heroin use and it is clear that 65mg is above safe levels for IV & smoked heroin at heavy tolerance. If you were a first time or inexperienced user this would cause you to overdose.

Therefore your point about '1 grain' getting you addicted is wrong - it would get you dead. I don't know where you get your information from...

You're chatting shit again. It takes about 4 weeks daily use to get a physical dependence on heroin. People do not develop a dependency after 1 use.

    heyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy guys, WOW!!!!!!!!

I STATED 1 GRAIN OF HEROIN CAN INDEED TRIGGER AN ADDICTION BOTH PHYSICAL AND PSYCHOLOGICALLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

AS HEROIN IS A HIGHLY ADDICTIVE DRUGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG, NOT DANGEROUSE DRUG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

IT WILL INDEED CAUSE SYMPTOMS OF HEROIN WITHDRAWALLLLLLLLLLLLLL!!!!!

I DID NOT SAY 1 GRAIN IN ONE HIT, I WROTE - 1 GRAIN IS ENOUGTH TO GET ADDICTED TOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!

I should have wrote and been more consice 'over a period of time' but i thought people would have realised this, rather than take it out of context and 'jump staright down my neck'

    Hello Badboy

'Generally speaking' Heroin is more addictive than most drugs to people with something to hide/forget, (like Alcohol) rather than stimulants (coke, E's etc) which is used 'generally' for peoples 'confidence'

i have only used it once (chased) about 10-15 years ago. I adopted the attitude that it was for 'experiencing' the drug rather than using it recreationally/socially, as what i've written above, it can get you rather quick, plus the purity of the drug is never certain, unless you know proper dealers (not street dealers)

Like ACID, LSD & SHROOMS, you have to be at the right 'headspace' and in controll, rather than the drug using you.

as i'm trying to sweetly imply, you cant use brown just for social purposes. john
