Well anyway Jade, my reply was in answer to yours, in which you challenged me about the 1 grain addicitveness. I thought you was thinking of one nano grain of Heroin rather than 1 grain.

65 mg, i think is equivilent to 50ml methadone. (roughly)

so, if you can OD on 1 grain, then is possible to start an addiction (?????)

My original source was taken from a drug agency (UK)

    Here we go

    i found this on google..>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>.

Heroin - Recreational and Street Drugs - Drugs in Sports - Choices ...One grain of heroin, or about 65 milligrams taken over a 2-week period on a daily basis, is usually sufficient to make the user physically dependent on ...
    www.drugfreesport.com/choices/drugs/street/heroin.html - 13k -

thou it wasn't where i first got the info from. Release will tell anyone that 1 grain is ENOUGTH to start an addcition. Whether people can go cold turkey and ride it or not, is another matter, thou as i wrote on another post, it's more easier for middle class twonks, for the obvious economic and social factor.

"Phew" ;) i'm off out on the lashhhhhhhhhh, john

    heyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy guys, WOW!!!!!!!!

I STATED 1 GRAIN OF HEROIN CAN INDEED TRIGGER AN ADDICTION BOTH PHYSICAL AND PSYCHOLOGICALLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

AS HEROIN IS A HIGHLY ADDICTIVE DRUGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG, NOT DANGEROUSE DRUG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

IT WILL INDEED CAUSE SYMPTOMS OF HEROIN WITHDRAWALLLLLLLLLLLLLL!!!!!

I DID NOT SAY 1 GRAIN IN ONE HIT, I WROTE - 1 GRAIN IS ENOUGTH TO GET ADDICTED TOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!

I should have wrote and been more consice 'over a period of time' but i thought people would have realised this, rather than take it out of context and 'jump staright down my neck'

    Christ, you're a knob.

You're chatting shit again. It takes about 4 weeks daily use to get a physical dependence on heroin. People do not develop a dependency after 1 use.

Anyway, it seems I was wrong. I asked around and people reckon its more like 3 - 5 days of regular use to start feeling withdrawals. However, "your mileage may vary" as they say.

Interesting, Borroughs, who I assumed knew his stuff always maintained that it would take a few weeks at least to develop a physical addiction.

But if you talk to a lot of ex-addicts the comment is always the same 'that first time, it made me feel like I'm meant to feel'.

I think maybe 3 -5 days to start feeling mild withdrawals, 4 weeks to develop a full on habit? Can anyone clarify? (not j the h)

I'll ask someone I know who used for about 5 years and see what he says.

Yes you should have been more concise because you can never assume people will know what you know.

i doubt as to whether anyone knew what a grain was, let alone how much it weighed.

Any professional working with substance misuse, will confirm as to what i've written above, that "a grain of Heroin is enougth to start an addiction".

i'm aged in my late thirties, and i've never came across people pulling out a bag of brown on a saturday night for 'occassional use'/ 'week-end use' as it's not a recreational use drug.

Its a slightly meaningless comment anyway because only a tiny tiny percentage of users will ever buy pure. So what is a 'grain' when you are buying street quality stuff?

    P.S.
I work in the substance misuse field and no one ever talks about a "grain" (which is an American term).

    P.P.S.
Some people do use heroin recreationally.

None of the professionals in substance misuse I asked had ever heard the term 'grain' used in a professional context, one of them remembered its use from a William Burroughs novel. And as has already been written, there is no given amount over which you will become addicted. It depends on the users body, the drug itself, the manner of taking it and many other variables. I don't think there is really a point here to be made.

Junkie is an excellent book actually, as is Queer, which is a rather touching love story. Not really relevant though.

what professional have you spken to? Are they drug workers? are they specialist workers?

All that i've written is correct. The only way to clarify this is to contact a 'specialist' drug worker, like the e-mail address that i forewared to you the other week, (with regards to the Benzo alert) or to telephone their 'hotline' as it's purposly set up for user's - ex-user's - concerned members of the family - and professionals wanting information, but you seem to insist, that if it isn't written up on Ewrod, then it's mis-information.

i do realise that i did indeed write up two or three postings that were 'dodgy' but i did write 'reported in the media' or 'in the evening news' with regards to the crack and cannabis post, i did indeed phone the press office for the Mayor to make a complaint and to the Press Association with regards to making an 'official' complaint to the press. With regards to the Drug Squad officer being pensioned off with a Class A addiciton that i wrote about, again, it was reported by BBC and the Guardian but they dont have anything on their website to clarify this. Short on phoneing the Scotland Yard press office, there is no way for me to 'prove' as to the authentication of this information.

in hindsight, i do realise that i shouldn't have posted it up, but i honestly thought someone would have read it in the media.

    regards, john

They are specialist drug addiction workers currently working for the NHS in Central London.

theSite gets their information verified from several reliable sources before it goes online. There are many reliable sources of information on the net, including Drugscope, the British Medical Journal, and the National Treatment Agency amongst others. You seem to believe this information should be a secret, talking about reports you have read and people you have spoken to, but in truth it is widely available if it has the scientific evidence to back it up.

If you can't verify your information then don't post it as fact. I can't see how that could possibly be misunderstood.

It might be right, but given no one uses the term grain, and given street heroin isnt pure its a meaningless thing to say because it has no baring at all on possible addictive use.

No, most of what you write is ill informed bullshit. You seem to forget that I and others on here actually work in the substance misuse field and can smell your BS from fucking miles away.

dont worry Jade, all he can do is chuck out vulgar obscenties and childish insults. Maybe he should concentrate into getting back into employment and getting a job, (doesn't he feel guilty that we contribute to his housing benefit) as anyone in the drug field will know about the Swiss Cocaine Trials, only muppets know all know nothing muppets chuck out abuse to co-workers.

I will ban both of you if you can't stop being petty and start being civil. There is absolutely no need to make this personal, if you are going to debate, then debate the issue not the person. Enough.
