If you have active cold sores (the other kind of herpes) there is a danger of spreading them to another person during kissing or oral sex.
For more information, read our factfiles: http://www.thesite.org/sex/sexual_health/genital_herpes.html http://www.thesite.org/health/skincare/cold_sores.html

Brook Advisory Centres
Centres offer young people advice, counselling and medical help around contraception, pregnancy, abortion and sexual health.
Telephone: 0800 0185 023
If you don't want to see your GP, that's OK. Ring Brook Advisory or look in your phone book for the nearest G.U.M. clinic. They will treat you in complete confidence. But don't leave it to chance.
But if you haven't even seen the doctor yet, you might not actually have herpes. So get down the clinic and put your mind at rest. Ten minutes of embarassment is a small price to pay.

It is kinda embaressing of course but once it's over with you'll know that it was the best thing to do
If u don't go now u'll keep on putting it off, and that means an even longer period without sex.
So call your GP up and make an appointment, they don't tell your parents if that's what you're worried about, it's 100% confidential.
Life is like a pubic hair on a toilet seat, before too long, you get pissed off
As far as I know it is safe as long as there aren't any outward signs of the herpes virus.
Ie - if you kiss someone who has the coldsore herpes virus in their system, you won't get a coldsore, or catch the virus unless they actually have a coldsore when you kiss them. I believe the mechanics are the same with genital herpes.

That's what I would assume. But I am not a medical expert.
