Might seem rather random, but have actually been having a heated debated about it in my house this morning...some people will argue about anything eh?
Anyway the title is pretty self-explanatory, what was your favourite book as a child (or maybe you read them now, as a big child?)?
Mine is absolutely without a doubt, Hairy Maclary from Donaldson's Dairy, I seriously challenge anyone to top that for sheer entertainment value and fantastic rhyming I also used to love the other books in the Hairy McLary series...that dog got up to some hijinks!!
Also used to love Hazel's Amazing Mother and Harry by the Sea - you know, where a big wave covers him with a piece of seaweed and he's mistaken for a seamonster. Classic In the same series he also got given a jumper with roses on it...obviously he considers himself far too manly a mutt to wear such a thing, so he tries to lose it. With hilarious consequence, I tell you
Anyway, share, discuss, ridicule

i love the dr seuss books, the humphrey books, elmer, mog, winnie the witch ...
there is another book called "laura's star" (cant remember the author now ... )
and my all-time favourite ... "the gruffalo". fab book. actually, most of the julia donaldson/axel shaeffler books are good.
and they are only picture books. there are the other ones like harry potter, lemony snickett ... so many
It was my first book I was able to read right through and would read it over and over again coz I just lurvved it
I adore that book, and it holds so many truths and values for adults.
It's usually described as a childrens book for adults.
Dangermouse, Winnie the pooh etc.
Anyone remember ulysees? (can't spell it).
I loved my big ulysees book!
It's about a boy with autism, animal rights, families, and it's really, really good. Much better than the recent "curious incident of the dog in the nighttime"
Remember reading those at school. Lurved it...
i decided to stop after my list of picture books. if i was going to list "older" children's books then the majority of those would be on my list too
OMGOSH, I loved them books.
Thought I was the only one...
I've still got me book somewhere coz never had the heart to throw it out.
Mallory Towers (even though I'm a bloke, I remember being glued by those) - also other stuff by Enid Blyton, the Famous Five, etc.
Anything by Roald Dahl
The Narnia stories... classics!
As were Little Richard and Prickles
Winne the Pooh of course
And anything by Rohal Dahl especially My Uncle Oswald.
When I was little my dad used to read it to me and then as soon as I was old enough I must have read it about 15 times.
So tell me who got the last laugh eh?
Roald Dahl was decent too.
Well when one lives a truely decadent life one does not discount possible pleasures because they might be seen as 'immoral'.
What-a-Mess
AND (after being in Dr Seuss land at Islands of Adventure) ONE FISH, TWO FISH, RED FISH, BLUE FISH! I so have to buy that again...
Oh, and Watership Down.
