Favourite Children's Books

Might seem rather random, but have actually been having a heated debated about it in my house this morning...some people will argue about anything eh? :p

Anyway the title is pretty self-explanatory, what was your favourite book as a child (or maybe you read them now, as a big child?)?

Mine is absolutely without a doubt, Hairy Maclary from Donaldson's Dairy, I seriously challenge anyone to top that for sheer entertainment value and fantastic rhyming :D I also used to love the other books in the Hairy McLary series...that dog got up to some hijinks!!

Also used to love Hazel's Amazing Mother and Harry by the Sea - you know, where a big wave covers him with a piece of seaweed and he's mistaken for a seamonster. Classic :p In the same series he also got given a jumper with roses on it...obviously he considers himself far too manly a mutt to wear such a thing, so he tries to lose it. With hilarious consequence, I tell you

Anyway, share, discuss, ridicule :)
Beep boop. I'm a bot.

The Little Prince by Antoine de Saint Exupéry

I adore that book, and it holds so many truths and values for adults.
It's usually described as a childrens book for adults.

I had lots of favourite books but one of the best ones is Adam's Ark by Paul Stewart

It's about a boy with autism, animal rights, families, and it's really, really good. Much better than the recent "curious incident of the dog in the nighttime"

The Hobbit by (well obviously) J R R Tolkien

When I was little my dad used to read it to me and then as soon as I was old enough I must have read it about 15 times.

The Hobbit is great - and it paid off let me tell you - had a creative writing thingumy to do in last year of junior school and I totally ripped it off and the teacher gave me a pack of fruit pastilles for it and let me read it front of the class and gave me 5 house points.

So tell me who got the last laugh eh?

Well when one lives a truely decadent life one does not discount possible pleasures because they might be seen as 'immoral'.
