    Take away oil and electricity and we're fucked. All we have done is learn to use many of our natural resources. I certainly don't think that this makes us any "better" than animals, just different.

    Far more different than any other animal on the planet. We have complex language skills, skills with tools and we can shape the enviroment that we live in.

    I'm not saying we are better or worse - but we are 'way above' in evolutionary terms.

    Again I have to ask if we really are?

    Isn't our reliance on natural resources actually evolving further, or is it a means of us assisting our own demise?
