your world is changing in a dramatic fashion and those who don't see far enough ahead or sit their ringing their little hands will be left behind.
we seriously need to support europe. we need to be in the euro.
keep up with the news and remember ...i told you so.
    goodnight.

Personally I also question the effectiveness of markets to work perfectly but surely the EU and the goal of a free market system would just intensify the migration of jobs?

I don't see why necessarily, it will inevitable happen unless the EU acts repressively to tighten its borders and trading to the outside whilst maintaibning its free-trade on the inside.

Shared EU resources, particualrly in high-tech etc will be beneficial to advancing our economies.

As mentioned earlier the EU is the biggest economy in the world....

china has virtually no health and safety - the fact hundreds of mums died from fake baby milk says it all

and they dont have the problems of consent a democracy has either

the EU could be really sucessful as we try to keep quality of products coming in ie moratorium of growing GM food, banning of meat from animal fed growth hormone which happens in america, yet having a decent economy which actually over produces food

personally i think the EU's role should be for setting environmental and health and safety laws, and promoting free but fair trade inside and outside its borders amongst some other powers

    Thatsanother broad generalisation.

Same as me saying 'Europe has no health and safety' citing an example of a Romanian hospital and then expecting Britain to be the same, which is of course ridiculous.......

I agree that the Eus primary role shoudl be to enforce standards relating to tradable goods and as a means of adressing problems that go beyond the level of the nation state.....

hmm im sure china has health and safety there, but nowhere near to our levels, the levels of corruption and pirating of everyday objects is beyond belief there (IMO) the fact they covered up SARS which could of possbily killed hundreds of thousands and the guy who told hte world they had a sars problem and werent doing enough, has now gone missing there says it all

No. If i walk down the bank to put money in it, are the Chinese going to take over all our banks? Not a chance. I want my car fixed. I hire a mechanic, are the Chinese going to provide cheaper mechanics with a better service? Haha no. Are the Chinese going to provide better hairdressers? Beer brewers? ISPs? Even if they do, and Britain looses a few hundred thousand jobs to China, like the US losing textiles manufacturing to China, this just frees up workers to move to a more profitable industry, a benefit of world trade. Unemployment will rise in the short term and decrease in the long term.
and you tell me to go and read an economics book!
i can just see the world leaders hammering out some vital economic issue and realising they are up against uK's top hairdresser and grease monkey global domination ...

Well that is possibly broadly true, but like I say you shouldn't make generalisations. Consider for a start the difference between the rual areas and the new cities.

The cover up is a political thing, but don't kid yourself that doesn't happen here.......

Its the idea that if our country can produce some set of products at lower cost than a foreign country, and if the foreign country can produce some other set of products at a lower cost than we can produce them, then clearly it would be best for us to trade our relatively cheaper goods for their relatively cheaper goods. In this way both countries and the world economy gain from trade.
Are you going to be telling us with all your expert knowlege on every area Britain has a competative advantage and how we are loosing it to the Chinese?

ok ...i didn't say anywhere that china would steal our service industry ...as in insurance banking etc ...but someone so easily can. it's a fragile thing. but someone somewhere in asia or europe so easily can and will if we are not a strong player in europe.
i am concerned that the worlds resources are literaly being sucked into a new and massive situation.
you say i am clearly an idiot ...i'm fine with that but would prefer the term realist.
all your learning and understanding of economics i am sure are far ahead of mine but ...it's all becoming out of date what you are learning. we are in a very new and unique situation. never before in history have things been changing this fast and on such a massive scale.
the real world is not conforming to what you are being taught and what you are believing. the resources that are becoming scarcer are heading away from us and more and more in a different direction to a different ideology.
the direction that the worlds resources are now heading is alarming.
if you believe that a small island in our position economicaly, can prosper then you are the idiot.
the americans are seriously alarmed at the inbalance this will cause globaly in what you understand.
i'm fine with you thinking i'm the idiot here ...as events unfold over a very short period of time ...your the one who is going to feel embaressed and foolish.
..and i'll answer this with some back up when i'm a little more sober and more awake.
your the one who's going to end up with egg on your face as they say.
    watch this space.
by the way ...america have already discovered that a lot of oil is to be had on their southern continent and have been making noises about the corrupt regiems etc who will benefit from it ...in other words ...it belongs to the north ...watch for the terrorist comunist excuses that will apear ...soon.
time will prove who the idiot is here.

Socialists’ logics is beyond human understanding.
When poor countries remain poor they cry about injustice and exploitation.
When these countries start developing and getting wealthier they cry about stolen jobs and resources.
Where the hell they stand on?

why do people like you keep attacking socialist beliefs or ideas when nothing as far as i'm aware has even hinted at anything socialist?

your not making a lot of sense with what appears to be a constant attack on socialism ...or ists ...when i have never even mentioned or even hinted at anything socialist.

The only way the UK can survive is by accepting the EU. Then we send in our troops and ensure that at the end of world war 3 the only country left with any power will be us.
It'll teach those blasted froggies and krauts a lesson for the Napoleonic wars, world war 1 and 2 and for being generally annoying.

    MUHAHAHAHAHA

    lets ee.
i see a massive shift in economic power happening before my very eyes. lots and lots of stuff happening in asia. then we get this fucking giant country with it's giant population suddenly cdragging itself out of the dark ages. this means that right now ...this very minute ...most of the worlds resources are heading in a new direction on a scale never before seen.
the americans accept that china will very shortly be the worlds biggest economy. i think most people accept that.
what most people don't want to see or can't bring themselves to admit ...is this is a monumental shift in world affairs of every kind.
the massive consumption of china over the next few years will dwarf anything before it.
it WILL have all kinds of effects on world markets ...the prices of comodities ...the buying power of some countries will be badly effected.
imagine yourself in an auction room ...i keep out bidding you on everything.
at some point traders will be demanding the currencies of europe ...america and china over most others.
where does that leave the U.K ... should we be foolish enough to go it alone?
    seems sensible to me ...

other countries will cope. we will cope. but the time will come where it will be more beneficial to intergrate than to keep our single currency. if everyone trades with the same basic unit there is no confusion as to 'is a turnip worth more than an apple' etc.

currently britain's economy is too different to europes and there would probably be instability caused if we joined.

lets put it this way ...theres a global economy to be making squid dillions from for many nations. many other nationsmay well be swept aside in the turbulance ...some asian lands are going to boom for sure ...vietnam etc ...south american nations are already quids in supplying timber (rain forrest) and then growing soya to feed china. china has a logistics problem that it is dealing with right now quite well ...though thuggish if nescessary ...in moving the peasants from the land ...billions of them ...into new cities ...massive factory and other industrial dealings ...millions are rushing in to some areas for the dosh thats available and the lifestyle upgrade ...but these super cities need feeding and watering.
as this massive shift in consumption of everything ...dwarfing americas obscene consumption of the planet ...
what are we going to be changing to go with the flow?
what are we even offering as chips in this new game thats happening on the other friggin side of town?
