    Coincidentally did you have a private education?

    There are numerous economic grounds for state provision of education but if you are basing your argument purely philosophically I doubt they will have much impact....

    I disagree. At least Matt Cavanagh was able to back up his point with some kind of argument.

    Although, later in the article, we discover that Mr Cavanagh is equally barmy:

    'He accepts in his book that it is rational for employers to discriminate against women under 40 because they may take time off to have babies. He argued, however, the state owed a "debt of gratitude" to women for having babies, so discrimination should be barred.'
