being allowed to stay up late once a week to listen to the adventures of dan dare ...on the radio.
then becoming the first family in the area to have tv.
getting that tv changed my family.
fridays and saturday nights would mean that three or four families would gather at my house. crates of pale ale. boxes of woodbine.
most of my memories are of sitting on the stairs and landing wth my sisters and other kids listening to the adults being scared by dracula or laughing their cootons off at something....a lively house.

I know a friend of the family who was a black and white minstrel.

I never saw the show though.

There are soooo many things from childhood to remember - the A-Team and Knightrider, She-Ra and He-Man, Dungeons and Dragons. Strawberry Shortcake and Victoria Plum, Star Wars, all those other childhood films. Garbage Pail Kids, cabbage patch kids, sticker books. I could go on forever....
