    Have you done DMT Keizo?

The clinic has a success rate of about 80% for cocaine addiction. Thats really good. Whether or not he saw God, or he's just being conned, does it really matter?

He believes and you cant prove him wrong, so by my judgement he's point of view about speaking with God is just as valid as yours.

But the only thing that gives it the power is the single persons' belief in it, and how much they want to believe in it. It's nothing to do with God, or the actual religion. To that effect, it doesn't matter what God, or what religion it is, all that matters is how much the person is willing to believe.

It just so happens that there's nothing else to actually believe in to the same extent :p

Nope, but I have a couple of friends that have.

One of them had a trip along the lines of an abduction by greys, which he believed for all of 20 minutes 'til we told him to take a step back and think about it.

I think the only reason he actually believed it was because the trip was so strong, and that it held no weight in reality, much the same as the Brazilians encounter with "God".

And yes, I'm pretty sure it does matter if it's a con when Bush is spending that much of the tax payers money on it :p

Oh certainly Kiezo, I have grave doubts over this programme. Personally I see it as a mix of Church and State which in the US legally shouldnt happen.

My point is that given the right situation it is possible that God, or finding God MAY be able to help people through whatever problems they are having.

As for DMT, well I'm not sure about that. I think its more than a little odd that people when using certain drugs react and have certain visions. Yes that may well be set and setting in many cases but I think there is more to it than that.

I think I have more confidence in the use of drugs as learning tools than you. Tools to help you find out about yourself and about the universe.

    random tangent

dont really care about bush' program, he is a warmongering twat and the topic has somewhat wondered.....i used to be in a "cult" til i was 10 and i dont really believe in what they taught me, so my view on religion is warped......but, i think that a genuine belief in god gives you hope and faith, i find when i pray it actually works.......i dont believe in orthodox religion myself, in essence it doesnt really matter if God exists because its that belief that counts (anyone following?)........and i think its hardly coincidence that a) fewer people care or even know about God these days, and b) the whole world is going to shit......because people do not have that belief to fall back on they are lost in the world......and thats the cause of evil, crime, greed....... basically, people with no real faith........

its just a shame that mankind has tried to impose its version of religion on each other, and that has basically caused more division than unity (look at Ireland)........because no one religion is correct, its down to each individual's perspective.

dont know why this is in the drugs forum btw (end of random stoned post)

I'd disagree with the 'worlds going to shit' type judgement.

There is just as much "evil" in the world now as there ever has been.

    There was NO golden age!

There has always been fighting and misery, thats part of the human condition. Just because it hasnt quite been on our door step for a while doesnt mean it hasnt been going on.

Look back over Africas history and you tell me its going to the shit, its been like that for at least a few hundred years. And everywhere else for that matter.

Well bongbudda, i'm not saying we missed the golden age, and i can't complain about my quality of life, but I am almost certain that there is less good in the world today, and as such evil has more influence.

People generally dont give a toss about each other, more and more younger kids are growing up like twats because of shit parenting. We live in a commercialised, greedy, selfish environment where the rich get richer, the poor die. The media strikes fear into everyone and everyone's afraid to leave their door unlocked because of the yob culture........in America the government have more control than ever and its entire political system is corrupted by greed.......we have 3 parties, neither of which offer any real choice or democracy.......so noone votes, nothing changes and we all trudge along.......you're suggesting its always been this bad? Plus the amount of crap we are pumping into the planet (litter, pollution), some of that is inevitable, but mostly its because people don't give a fuck, full stop.

And yes the Western world has been shafting Africa for generations, America burns excess crop while Africa starves, the majority are priced out of simple medicine, and their national debt will keep it that way.

My point is there are less God-fearing, law-abiding people around, than say 100 years ago......you really dont think that belief, or the lack of it, affects society? think about it.

Well, lets look at the world 100 years ago.

Life expectancy the world over was lower.

Average wealth the world over was lower.

    Child mortality was higher.

    Disease was rife.

"Moral" standards in the US included segregation and in the UK it included sending small boys up chimeys to die.

I am not suggesting the world is perfect, far from it. And currently society in many Westernised countries is changing.

But do you really honestly believe you would be better off 100 years ago?
