You're right, and to a point I think you're right to stand up for yourself.
The only thing I'd say is that sometimes it just becomes really pointless, because we all know fine well that it's going to piss people off, and yes, part of it's because it's you. It's only going to get worse when more people see it, and even though I think it's unfair, sometimes you just have to bite the bullet and accept the lesser of two evils.
You need to learn that sometimes if you've got a reputation that these things are sometimes seen as attention seeking, and making you're writing red is bound to get a reaction. Whether you're concious of that or not, I dunno.
