Yes. It showed a photo of a naked 6 year old girl, that was part of an exhibition that the childs mother was running.

    Was featured yesterday.

    Why isn't it headline news?

How can they get away with that?

Was this the same as the series of photos the Guardian or Independant (I can't remember which) printed yesterday? The general consensus of those asked seemed to be that it wasn't entirely shocking and much worse can be found on the internet.

It's even worse like that. Not only the reproduced the image of the naked girl (which was part of a photographic exhibition) but they also printed an image of another naked girl straight from a paedophile website.

They covered the girl's genitals with the word 'CENSORED' but otherwise that was it. Their point? To try to suggest both images amounted to the same and to suggest that some works of art such as the one in question are nothing but legalised paedophilia.

This is utter bollocks. Plain and simple. Stupid, misguided, malicious, clueless so-called journalism and fucking knee-jerk reaction bullshit.

I would also be most interested to know how the Scum came into possession of child porn, and when can be look forward to seeing the rag's editor and proprietor arrested for possession of illegal material.

That is absolutely shocking! I only heard about it from another forum. Why isn't anyone complaining about it on the news or anything?

At 6 years old this girl doesn't know that her pictures are being splashed across newspapers.

Cant The Sun be sued for this? No one in their right mind would want to look at these images when reading the newspaper...

 Indeed, that is really very disgusting. If grown women want to display themselves in "newspapers" then that's all very well, but small children....that shouldn't have been allowed. It's not fair on the child and I find it hard to believe that people want to see that.

They didn't on my version. Needless to say the paper was ripped and binned soon after.

Wehey the Scum *cough* I mean the Sun is at it again, just doing... well, having its head up its arse.

Wonder what their opinion on the people released from Guantanamo is.

    lunacy.

if the child's mother is the photographer, then she is obviously just taking pictures of her child doing what kids do, and oh my god, sometimes kids run about naked. if that's considered child porn these days, then half our family photo albums are highly illegal.

and splashing her across the papers is just wrong. there are pictures of me as a little kid with not a scrap of clothing on, and god knows i wouldn't want the whole country seeing.

    sick, fucking sick.
If the mother is taking pictures of he daughter running round, that is one thing and im ok with it.

taking pictures of her daughter posing and sending them to an exhibition is totally fucked up.

Really? That's disgusting. I only saw it online when I heard of it and on the internet version they had put the word over the genitals... so that's okay then.

    I never saw it...

My sister is studying a woman for her art GCSE who took naked pictures of her children playing and that. If a 16 year old girl can study that at school why cant it be in the paper? Some call it art, but i havent seen the photos.

Fair enough, in a few years the child will have some things to say about it, and i dont think its really good parenting

    but

Naked pics of kids taken by their parents, so what, theres loads of pictures of me naked in photo albums, in the paddling pool, in tha bath its so normal! its not the picture i object to its the bad parenting.

now, the picture taken from a child porn website. That is whats shocking.

Kids like to pose in pictures! I know so many little kids who as soon as a camera is shown they start posing. So what if her kids were naked at the time.

The exhibition thing, i think its wrong to do that whilst the kid is still young, she shoudl really wait until the child has grown up and can decide whether the exhibition should go ahead.

The photo made me feel ill, like someone said, how the hell could they have got hold of a supposed 'child porn' photo anyway? They can't surf these sites legally.

Why is it shocking for a picture to be taken from an internet site, and not for a similar picture to be published in a Gallery?

Yes, I agree that the Sun's team should be investigated for accessing the site (hell, Pete Townsend was) but they did make a very valid point about the appropiateness of publicising these pictures. That we are having this discussion proves that.

BTW The copy I saw was censored, and I haven't heard of any being published that weren't...

its perfectly natural for parents to have picture sof their kid in baths etc, my mum has ones of me and my sis, but putting them on displayin a gallyery is another scenario all together, if the daughter grew up and the mother asked if she was weilling to let her pics be put in an exhibition fair enough but this isnt that case...
the sun somehow putting a 'kiddy porn' pic in the newspaper, they should be investigated for that!

i think we reached this as a general consensus though...

I suppose nowadays antyhing to do with a naked child will have some sort of stigma attatched due to the paedophilia becoming more renowned.

But, a decade ago, then yeah. I wouldn't see a problem with it, but now due to Sarah Payne, Holly and Jessica it's just more publicised and people will scrutinise it for being bait for all these serial rapists/paedophiles/murderers etc. I can't blame them.

I wasn't too impressed with the photographs AT ALL. I thought it was really inappropriate for The Sun to do this since they've had soooooo many campaigns against child killers and so on, this is just the pot calling the kettle black IMHO.

Ach, I dunno. Either way I wouldn't like to show off my naked daughter in any sense.

If you think that a picture of a naked child is child porn, then I would suggest that you have a bit of a problem.

I didn't see The Sun article, but if its about that art exhibition, then wasn't it pics of the artists daughter?
And even if one of the pics was from a child porn website, surely the meaning of the pic changes depending on its context?

It's a sad state of affairs that things have taken a turn towards the way they are.
Fact of the matter is, with the pedigree of crime around nowadays, nothing can be viewed innocently anymore. We need to buck our act up as a country, too many children are getting taken from us before they've even had chance to grow. I never saw these pictures, but I tend not to read the news or watch anymore, too many negatives outweighing the positives.
I totally agree with what a couple of people have said, in the sence that photos of this nature should be totally innocent, I have loads of my kids in the bath etc..., but with the ammount of poisoned minds that are lurking within our society nowadays, it's just too dangerous to put this material on general display..

What Blagsta said is totally true, If you view a picture like this in the context of it being porn, then you as an individual need to reasses yourself, & ask yourself why is your brain interpreting a picture, that IS totally innocent, in such a way. I think it's a shame that certain things can't be accepted, that are totally natural, but human nature is, & will continue to push a negative outcome out from any situation..

    PEACE

fair enoguh blagsta, but accessing a child porn site is illegal and the picture was probably taken in that context as well... that is why that man(cant remember his name?) got arrested for accessing a child porn site for research purposes! the sun should be investigated for this

i have no other arguments other than consent and privacy issues about the pictures of her daughter though....

    I've found the Sun article
    http://www.thesun.co.uk/article/0,,2-2004110579,00.html
if that other pic on there is from a child porn site, then that begs the question - where did The Sun get it? Did they download it? If so, thats illegal, as is reproducing it.

ok, so after seeing the actual article, i still stand by my belief that the actual photo is nothing offensive, but i do think that it's irresponsible of the mother to display it in such a context.

and what the sun have done is just inexcusable.

you can't compare a picture of a child taken by her mother to a picture of a child taken especially to exploit on a sick, illegal website.

I am offended. Reason being they show those type of pictures in a national newspaper. How IS a young naked child art? I've never agreed with people showing young children as "art". I'm not sure how your 'sposed to appreciate a naked kid in the same way people can a picture of wiggly lines and far out colours. I also agree with what SlimeFace said.
got arrested for accessing a child porn site for research purposes!

    The drummer from The Who.

It might not be of great artistic value but there is absolutely nothing wrong with a naked child in the right context.

We're going down a very dangerous road where any material that paedophiles are found in possession of is now consider improper. A paedophile is caught with a video of a nativity play so now nobody can take pictures of children dressed as the virgin Mary or shepherds. WTF???

So what would happen if a paedophile is caught wanking off to a children's clothes catalogue? Are we going to be forced to use dummies for catalogues? Will children have to get their own dressing rooms in swimming pools just in case an adult looks at them and then has one off the wrist?

i never said it was art. i said that the photo in itself was not offensive, but the context in which it was displayed was not appropriate.

if the same picture appeared in the woman's family photo album, i would have absolutely no issue with it.

I don't think it is porn, but then that's not the point.

IMHO there is no reason why anyone should want to place such a picture in a Gallery, why anyone would consider this art in the first place. What kind of parent takes a picture like this and then makes it public...?
