How fixed was that show? Westlife's Mandy won. The song is so shit! Clearly voted by Westlife fans who have no taste and just want to be married to them all. What a joke!

I dunno, I just fail to understand the whole thing.
Daniel Bedingfield: If your not the one
Busted: Year 3000
Westlife: Mandy
Black Eyed Peas: Where is the Love?
Rachel Stevens: Sweet Dreams My LA Ex
oh dear.
let me enlighten you:
Daniel Bedingfield: If your not the one - crap song
Busted: Year 3000 - crap song
Westlife: Mandy - crap song
Black Eyed Peas: Where is the Love? - crap song
Rachel Stevens: Sweet Dreams My LA Ex - crap song.
good bands do not win awards on tacky ITV shows.
fact.
2. The best pop song of the year, Girls Aloud - No Good Advice, wasn't even nominated
3. If they put on shitey guitar music, less people would have voted, and less money for the likes of Cowell.
4. If you want a real joke, did anyone see The National Music Awards? Rachel Stevens won Best Female (she's had one single out), and Gareth Gates perfroming Spirt in The Sky on Ant and Dec won Best Performance, over Robbie at Knebworth
5. If you don't like pop music, chances are you won't like any of the songs nominated.
And I didn't even watch the thing :yeees:
Everyone's definition of "Good bands" is different, unless you're into musical snobbery.
Fact.
true, but some songs are universally crap.
i doubt you'd see many people defending say the cheeky girls against the likes of kylie.
and while we're on the subject of musical snobbery:
:yeees:
Ok, cheap shot. Was striking a blow.
*agrees to disagree*
don't get me wrong, i think there are a lot of good pop songs. and i'm all for a good bit of pop now and again.
i just wouldn't class anything on that list as a good pop song.
Rachel Stevens - Sweet Dreams My LA Ex
Evanescence - Bring Me To Life
Beyonce - Crazy In Love
Daniel Bedingfield - If You're Not The One
The Black Eyed Peas - Where Is The Love
Busted - Year 3000
Dido - White Flag
Room 5 ft. Oliver Cheatham - Make Luv
Westlife - Mandy
Fatman Scoop ft. The Crooklyn Clan - Be Faithful
Clearly, the idea of Westlife winning Record of the Year is quite ridiculous. Considering that the single was released, what, two weeks ago? But obviously, as it is Westlife, it is superior to any other record made this year. Madness
Well seeing as this is Anything Goes, have you got a problem it being here?
I don't really follow the charts or listen to the radio or anything so no real idea what songs have been out this year.
I believe in a thing called love - The Darkness.
Just my opinion. But then it isn't pop, and all of those songs are.
From looking at that pathetic list of nominations and the utter tripe that managed to win the award, I am pleased and relieved that The Darkness weren't deemed "good enough" for it
A contender in my eyes. I also like Seven Nation Army. Was that this year?
Totally disagree.
Look, the whole thing was on prime-time Saturday night, yeah? So they're obviosuly gonna put on pop music, if they put on stuff like The Darkness/White Stripes then a) less people would watch b) less people would vote, and c) Bands like that aren't about winning awards like that.
It's all about opinions anway. I'd say the Girls Aloud - No Good Advice track, or that Beyonce tune.
Uhh... yeah it is.
Anyway, Bri's right - it's all about the ratings. It doesn't matter that the majority of the songs nominated were complete shite.
Look at it this way: the majority of people that listen to what most people class as 'good music' (rock, dance, hip-hop, R&B etc.) are out on a Saturday night at a club/bar actually listening to it. They're not gonna be sat at home watching shows like that. That leaves pre-teen/young teenagers at home, usually with their parents.
And we all know the type of shit music they listen to, eh Bri?
how on earth could a song that's been out for what, 2 weeks be song of the year  :eek2:
F.I.X.E.D
Well, it certainly would have been those sorts of people who'd have voted. hence why Westlife won. Probably a load more people would have watched it though.
BTW cover versions and American music shouldn't have been eligible, in my opinion.
No, its just that people who vote in things like this have the memory of a goldfish.
Can anyone remember what was number one in february?
You pays your money and takles your choice. But that doesnt stop people who think that the pap on ITV was good from being mentally deficient.
As for Girls Aloud-
As it was an audience vote I doubt it.
Its amazing how many 12 year old girls there are who cream themselves over Westlife.
I thought it was quite 'convenient' that the nominees who weren't there in the studio were voted out first
