i am also curious so any information greatly appreciated, and susie *ahem*entertainment*ahem*
those kids seemed to be really proud of their suicide attempts, like they were part of some exclusive club.
they made no mention of the millions of people who deal with their depression everyday. they paid no attention to the fact that there were suicides long before the internet was even dreamed up. they ignored all the people who have depression and join support groups online to help them work through their feelings.
i thought it was very one sided, and kinda childish.
Ah no panic, a Mod will be around later and move it to the right forum
If you wanted to look at that website but didn't get the address that was on the programe then you can check it out below.

Well tbh smoke2k couldnt have done anything even if he wanted to as they were in different countrys and i guess he realies that and has choosen not to dewl on something that cant be changed.
And that Andy guy that was on it looked just like screwtape if he had hair, glasses, a bubble end to his nose and fuck loads of cuts on his arm. But the rest of him looked just like him
Well i didnt see it but if thats what happened in it i dont think i wanted to see it. how can someone be proud of trying to kill themselfs?
Inviting young vunerable boys round to your house?yes thats not suspicious:|
It's stupid how they were all smiling and laughing.I dont think the dude that overdosed online was aiming to kill himself i think he was just retarded.
anyways thats my two cents.
and now, if any parents have depressed kids, they're gonna be all funny about them being on the net. but it could be a real help.
there are certain sites (usually the kind with message boards) that just breed insanity, and teach kids self-destructive behaviour.
but then there are some sites that have loads of really useful information, and i know a lot of people that found resources through the internet which spurred them on the get help.
Just seemed like another channel 4 we're-so-cutting-edge-dealing-with-issues pile of toss dressed up as dealing with problems but being used as mindless 'entertainment'
Wah this is so awful, the state of youth today.
*shrug*
I can see this this show merely going to serve the perpose of
1) getting more teens to go on the net to get support for commiting suicide
2)Unecessarily worrying many parents about thier children and what they do on the net
3) Discourage those with reall problems and who need help from looking on the net for help
Totally Kaffy .
That program did make the Internet out to be a place where nutters hang out and the only time that your gonna use it is if you wanna kill your self. Parents are definitely gonna be watching what their kids do online now.
She's only helping other people with the same kind of thing she is going through. Just 'cause she invites youngsters round her house that doesn't make her a pedo.
Actually, she has helped many people, I am not sure why you only think of the sexual side to it, since there isn't any. Maybe you missunderstood something? Maybe you are obssed by it, or have had troubles?
I have been a member of psyke for just 6 months, and I have realised that she's a very helpfull person. Before you judge someone, try and understand them first mate.
Btw, first post, hello all.
It wasn't a suicide documentary, it was a documentary on both the internet and suicide.
It was there to educate you not to entertain you.
I'm not sure if that's true. If you watch something and it's about adult websites, you don't think... hold on, if I go on the net all I'm gonna get is porn. It just depends on what places you look in. If people do think that then it's quite silly, don't you think?
Greetings Pyro, have a good one.
I am uselesspsychicgarbage, I am Andy. I do exist, this is me, I am a person, I have thoughts and feelings, and I won't comment on the light in which the documentary portrayed suicide and the internet. I haven't seen the final cut, and at this time I have no wish to. It's not going anywhere, but from the response I have recieved the affect has been amazingly positive.
Someone emailed me saying that the documentary saved his life. Maybe he will go on to save many others.
For your information I am not a young boy, I can make decisions and choose who I should trust. I am not 'retarded', I have been through a very dark time. *sigh* Does it matter? Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but you would consider others thoughts and feelings, no?
Suicide was a very real part of my life, but it is very difficult to talk about. Laughter and smiles enable us to talk about this topic in a flippant manner. I guess I'm not allowed to smile, but then that is another day.
I am not here to be offensive, or undermining in anyway, I just want to spread some light. I will openly talk to anybody here who wants to talk this through more. I am more than happy to do that. But please don't judge me or others before you know us.
Oh, and who the hell is 'screwtape?'
Andy
Not sure, think he/she may post on here. ?
I thought the programme last night was good, well take out the drugs thing as it was just stupid that guy was basically bragging about watching someone unfortnatly die and did nothign about it even though he could have. Bujt generally the suicide, self harm and the net was interesting and just show that there are good and bad sides to chatting on the net.
Don't worry I'm sure it'll be repeated. *boom* *boom*
What I said was aimed in the context that if i 40 year old bloke turned around and said 'dear judge sir i have young vunerable boys in my house because i want to help them' it would not look all tooo good.
Dont start with me because im really not in the mood.
harsh.
but
He posts on here, how come? x
Hmmm, that would make a change... not.
Well isn't that nice. How exactly was your comment related to the documentary? It said that Penny was 23 and if Andy was at university at the time he met her, that would make him at least 18. You might like to consult a dictionary. And what is this 'real world' that you claim to inhabit?
The programme just seemed to find another reason to vilify, and blame yet another of societies ills on the internet.
At the end of the day, it was a half hour programme, drawn out to over an hour long, based upon the unfortunate suicide of some kid.
Mr_Wobble
I will not however change my mind about the documentry (even if i am wrong) I felt that it was just another attemp by Ch4 to get ratings by using the shock factor
