Hot Water Music are not emo, they're like dark pop-punk.

Finch isn't emo. The Used isn't emo. A lot of the bands mentioned really aren't emo by any definition.

Personally, I'm into indie/emo sort of stuff, whatever really. I can't believe this thread is called 'what is emo' and no-one's mentioned Sunny Day Real Estate. Such a legendary emo band.

Kudos to the dude who said Mineral, they're an amazing band. Jimmy Eat World are pretty emo, particuarly pre-Bleed American (which is more just pop-rock). Clarity is my all time favourite album.

Coheed and Cambria are great, as are a ton of bands mentioned.

Funeral For A Friend are good, but I think they're overrated.

More bands you want to check out:

    American football
    Jets To Brazil
    Owen
    Last Days Of April
    The Weakerthans
    Bright Eyes
    Cursive
    Glassjaw
    Kind Of Like Spitting
    Songs: Ohio
    Piebald

I'm by no means saying those bands are/aren't emo, just saying if you like the sort of stuff in this thread you'll probably like those.

Yeah dude, and while we're on pop-punk bands (well, Brand New used to be pop-punk anyway) download Fall Out Boy. Pop-punk done right.

Hey, I saw Brand New last year at The Metro Club in London, it was awesome. I also have their old CD with the misprints and stuff so maybe it'll be worth something some day.

    I'm old school baby, ha.

Brand New *drools*. Their new album is far better than their first.

Also saw them live last year, can't wait to see them again in Jan :hyper:
