hi so I really just want to share some books ive been reading recently and ask people about the ones they're reading.

books I love include The Quiet At The End Of The World, Green Rising and Last Seen Online by Lauren James, lots of Non Prats's short books, Betting On You and The Do-Over by Lynn Painter, The Lie Tree by Francis Hardinge, and id love to hear what books other people like

also, as a side note, I want to read some Sylvia Plath (Ariel specifically) but am unsure if it's going to be too intense because of the poet's obsession with death, so reading it over the summer on my own might be too much, so would really appreciate someone to give me a clear understanding of the sort of stuff she talks about and the intensity of it. thanks hope you have a lovely day/night

Hi @foxglove! Thank you for sharing this, they sound like some great recommendations. A book I've read recently that was really good was Trevor Noah's book, Born a Crime - learned a lot but also kept entertaining!

I love this thread so much because I get to talk about my favourite thing, books!.

So mostly I have been using my local library to get books out my desk is full of books and my bookshelf is. I'm a book ban lol 😂. I got some books on forensic science which is a secret passion/hobby of mine, I find the process of it fascinating. I also got a book written by Juno Dawson called Wonderland and another by the creator of five nights of freddys himself it's the first book in the series called Silver Eyes. I can't remember the name of the author, Scott Cawthorn rings a bell......

Just need to actually read them and get motivated because my focus is eeslly bad atm 😂 I can't sit through a chapter of a book before doing something else.

also loving this thread. i'm a complete romance/rom-com girl when it comes to the books i read - although will occasionally venture out to other genres too.

i also loved betting on you by lynn painter and the do-over is on my 'to-read' list for sure. I also loved better than the movies by her too (and the second book in that series)

as for other books i've loved 'Picking Daisies on Sundays by Liana Cincotti' and 'When in Rome by Sarah Adams

but i love love love seeing whatever everyone else is reading and adding to my never-ending TBR 😂

I have a bit of a conflicted relationship with reading because I LOVE books but have dyslexia so sometimes find reading takes me a long time / quite a bit of energy!

When I do manage to get myself to read though I really enjoy poetry - because its a bit shorter and more emotionally punchy! Mary Oliver is my favorite poet.

I also really liked In Memoriam by Alice Winn recently.

I haven't read any Sylvia Plath, though I hear what you're saying about feeling concerned about how the themes of death might impact you. Is there anything you can think of that might help reading Ariel feel more comfortable, or breaking it down into smaller parts? It's also totally okay to 'park' a specific book for now until a time when you feel a bit more open to that kind of material. Looking after yourself is what's most important!

i have just finished 'I will find you' by Harlen Coben! it was different to the usual genre of books that i read but i love the TV shows based on his books so thought i would give it a go and i was hooked straight away! i will definitely be reading more of his
