I see you've had some questions about the services we offer here at The Mix so I'll give you a bit of an overview so you can have all the answers in one place.
As you already know, you're currently using our Discussion boards. Our discussion boards are one of our spaces to check in with peers who are going through similar experiences and this is available 24/7.
The Mix Support Circle Chats are a small group chat with up to 5 people where everyone takes it in turns to talk about what they are going through. You can find more information or join from here: http://www.themix.org.uk/get-support/group-chat . There are different chats that we have available that you can use this link to find out more about.
We also offer free webchat and phone counselling at The Mix. Our counsellors aim to help by listening to your problems and working with you to find ways to cope. Our webchat/phone counselling service operates on a self-referral basis. It is suitable for anyone under 25 who is looking for short-term help with mental health and emotional wellbeing. You can refer yourself to our counselling team here: https://www.themix.org.uk/get-support/speak-to-our-team/the-mix-counselling-service
Our counselling does not use a waiting list system, but new appointments are posted to our website as soon as they become available, so it is worth checking in regularly if you can't see any right now. Your first appointment is likely to take place up to a month after the point that you self-refer.
We also have a crisis texting service called Shout. Our Crisis Messenger text service provides free, 24/7 crisis support across the UK. If you’re aged 25 or under, and are experiencing a personal crisis, are unable to cope and need support, you can text THEMIX to 85258. Their trained volunteer will introduce themselves, reflect on what you’ve said, and invite you to share at your own pace. You’ll text back and forth, only sharing what you feel comfortable with. They can deal issues such as Suicidal thoughts, abuse or assault, self-harm, bullying, relationship breakdown. You can find out more about it on our website here: https://www.themix.org.uk/get-support/speak-to-our-team/crisis-messenger
We will be launching a 1:1 Peer Support Service separate to Community in 2025. This Peer Support service will be a 1:1 space, offering pre-bookable slots, and will take place via webchat. We will have more information about this service closer to the launch date.
In the meantime there are peer supporters on community that can respond to different posts and offer support for issues you might be facing in the form of a reply to something you've posted.
In addition to that you can follow us on instagram and tik tok and look through the numerous amount of articles on our website written by and for young people.
How does all of this sound? Here's a link you can you use to post a new thread if you'd like https://community.themix.org.uk/post/discussion
It sounds like your health anxiety has felt pretty loud lately, is that right? That feels really hard, and I know personally how all-consuming and scary worrying about health can be. It can leave you feeling quite helpless sometimes, so I'm really glad that you can talk about it and post here.
If you'd like to create a new discussion thread about health anxiety, I am sure that many of the friendly people here would like to listen and share their own experiences too. We're in this together
