Interview

TheNightmareTheNightmare Posts: 2,587 Boards Guru
I had my interview yesterday for a placement I did since Monday, my last day was yesterday too and they let me go at lunchtime. I’m feeling nervous about the outcome, as they mentioned they’d contact me if I got the job. I can’t wait to get out of this limbo and really want something to come up. I’m still worried about stuff, and I just hope to get sorted soon. I know I will get sorted, but I hope it's as soon as possible.

Hi @TheNightmare I heard that you just recently had an interview for the work placement that you did. I hope the interview went well and that you feel a bit better now since you have done it. I know job interviews can be super scary attending (I speak from experience). I know sometimes in those situations as well if it helps you can always email the company interviewing and ask for reasonable ajustments in the interview such as having extra time to answer questions as well as even asking to have the interview questions sent to you the day before the interview so then you can prepare for what they will be asking you on the day. I hope everything goes well for you right now and I hope something good happens as well (because only things can go up right now as I tend to say). You got this and if not its still experience and you learn from it as well. Also, if you are able to you could always ask for feedback as well too. I can imagine though how anxious you must be feeling right especially after doing the interview too.

@Amy22 Thanks so much for your support! The interview was nerve-wracking, but I’m glad I did it. Your tips about reasonable adjustments are really helpful—I’ll keep those in mind for next time. I appreciate your encouragement!

@Laura_tigger82 so good to hear that, thanks a lot. I'm just waiting to hear a decision, probably going to contact the place who got me it to see if they could get more interviews if I'm not successful in getting the role but you never know as its not too far away from Christmas, they might be looking for a lot of people. I'm nervous and still a bit uncertain about stuff but I think I feel better as I have a bit of support in place too.

No worries im more than happy to help you out right now because I get how difficult it can be doing interviews and sorting out work placements. I can imagine the interview being very nerve-wracking because it is scary being asked lots of questions as well. I find sometimes I struggle with questions about myself like when they ask me who I am as a person and stuff. I normally tend to write down in a notebook some pointers of stuff I can talk about as well as questions to ask the company too. Reasonable adjustments can be quite helpful as well because then the interviewer can help you feel more prepared and to get you to be your best self too as well. No worries again im always here too if you need any help or even prep for interviews <3. I hope all is going ok for you right now.

@ebyrne556 hi, it was a group interview so a bit easier bit still not easy, like it can be nerve wracking. I'm doing not too bad but it is tough the waiting process. Genuinely appreciate you're proud of me though and thanks for responding.

Well done on going for your interview! Interviews can be so nerve-wracking, and you’ve done brilliantly just by putting yourself out there. I know the waiting part can feel like a rollercoaster of emotions, much like waiting for grades-you want to know the outcome, but sometimes it's nerve-wracking to think about!

What helped me during those waiting periods was keeping myself as busy as possible. When I was waiting for results, I found work kept my mind occupied, and hobbies helped too: like reading, being creative, staying active, or spending time with friends. Those activities really fill up the time and make it go by quicker. Hang in there-you've done your part, and now it's time to find ways to rest your mind as best as you can :)

@Alwayshope2day thanks a lot again, it is hard the waiting part but I have just being stay positive like looking at the good parts like I attended which you're meant to do anyway but there's people who wouldn't plus I attended a placement all week following up to the interview. Also at the same time I'm trying not to be negative but I have to not rely on getting the job too. About the interview I was nervous but it was a bit easier as it was a group interview instead of just a 1 to 1 interview. Ill try to rest my mind too.
