Hey everyone, how has your October been?
I'm back here again for a monthly achievement check-in! I'd love to hear what you've achieved this October. Of course, feel free to write as many victories as you wish, no matter how big or small they are to you. You’re doing an amazing job like always, and I look forward to hearing these
My achievements this month:
- I put myself in positions where I was out of my comfort zone – I spoke in front of students as part of a Q&A panel about psychology placements which was so daunting and made more connections by attending networking events! This really improved my confidence in the end, so I’m so happy that they happened
- I made time to relax and unwind despite having a busy, stressful week of uni – I went out for a walk in nature and watched Hercules with my sisters hahah
- I did exams for 2 of my psychology modules which I found challenging to revise for whilst being ill and juggling work related to my dissertation
As for this month’s theme, it was world mental health day with a specific focus on work (https://www.who.int/campaigns/world-mental-health-day/2024)! In relation to this theme, I’m curious to know what kind of things help you ensure that you feel ready to go to work/school?
So that I go to work/uni in a good mental state, I personally value taking breaks when they’re definitely needed – watching an episode of a show I like when I return home after a busy day really improves my mood. And whenever I face common stresses at work, giving myself moments to breathe and writing down what’s bothering me really helps
Again, I’m so proud of you all for getting through October – hope everyone has a lovely November!

I think my achievements for this month was just really the same as last months. I have started to try and take more responsibility in my life and basically trying to adult more (because I feel sometimes I lack the responsibility that I need to aquire as an adult sometimes. Also this will sound silly but I started cleaning the house more specifically doing the bathroom (taught by my lovely mum) so I'm kind of doing more housework now 😂. But it's quite important too. I also spoke to my old college tutor and they asked me if I want to come into the college one day and talk about my experiences on my apprenticeship with the bbc which will be middle of November.
I think looking at the theme of looking after yourself at school or work I done know if this currently applies to me as someone who is currently unemployed and feels like my studying days have come to an end (eventhough I still self study through youtube videos now and then). I think though when I was in education/work I tend to allow myself to rest when I went home (though there were times where I brought my work with me at home but as part of my job I kind of had to watch episodes of the show I worked on). I would let myself do a hobby or listen to music because I find when I do something I love it regulates me and keeps me in check. If I had any worries I would try to talk to a colleague or a friend or family members (I was able to have a support worker when I worked there so I came across another issues or my anxiety started to rise, I could talk to them about my feelings).
And I agree, I think listening to music and doing a hobby can really relax you - and I'm glad that you've allowed yourself to rest as soon as you get home from work as well since it's really important! I'm happy to hear that you have a supportive network to talk to whenever you have worries as well - it really makes sure that you don't feel alone
Also i cannot believe we are now in November?!
